I recall that when Harris was San Francisco District Attorney, she/her office routinely failed to tell the defense about convictions of police officers called to testify, which the law requires. When the defense bar discovered that, it was a huge problem, and the after-effects continue to this day.
In a sane country, that bit of deceit alone would have been enough to keep her from rising any higher, and indeed would have gotten her sacked in disgrace. But, no one ever said America was a sane country.
Kamala Harris: *objected to early release as it would reduce the labor pool for prisons, *would not prosecute Mnuchin for illegal home foreclosures although she was urged to, Mnuchin donated to her campaign and no other Democrat, *she was against body cameras for police, *she had protestors arrested, *she protected a prosecutor who lied, *she insisted an innocent man had to stay in jail and not be released, *voted to confirm "Mad Dog" Mattis, *in 2015 she expanded civil forfeiture, *she dropped the investigation against Exxon in regard to their climate change denial - she needed their money when running for Senate.
No, I do not like her at all. Both Kamala Harris and Cory Booker have obviously been given "favorite Dem" status by the DNC, but I think the DNC is full of fecal matter.
I remember my mom telling me about the rejoinder of a woman in the remote hamlet where we lived when I was born, when she didn't think much of what a fellow was saying: "You're as full of shit as a spring robin." Why does that memory call Donald Trump to mind? I have set down a list of potential candidates segregated according to the current likelihood that I would support them. Here it is; remember it is tentative, there are various reasons, and consider the source:
Come to think of it, the mere fact that my mother is enthusiastic about him should have been an indication that he's a nonstarter. But I'd still like to hear your reasoning.
Well, Cat, there is quite a bit to like about Mr. Brown. He seems lacking with respect to foreign policy, and although he might well appeal to voters in the upper Midwest who changed from voting Democratic to voting GOP, he doesn't seem to be in tune with where the Democratic Party is heading nationally. But as you might have noticed, despite being a geezer I tend to the far left of where the Democratic Party has been in recent times. And I am convinced that no matter whom the Dems nominate, he/she/it will get all of California's electoral votes. But with a largely unwinnowed field in the primary, my vote might make a difference and I will probably try to vote strategically. Although I could vote in the Democratic primary as a Green, I will temporarily re-register as a Democrat to make sure there are no problems, just as I did in 2016, when I voted for Bernie. I am tempted to go down to the county clerk's office when early primary voting starts just because that would mean I vote before the Iowa caucuses convene. But people will be able to vote by mail in Iowa next year, so that would just be symbolic. In the days before absentee voting, I always tried to be the first in my precinct to vote.
Alan, all of my politically aware life, starting around age twelve, I have been to the left, often way to the left, of the establishment Democratic Party of the day. At the moment, I can barely see them, they're so far to the right of me.

“I think he’s clinging to a rhetorical strategy that was very powerful when he was coming of age 50 years ago, but it’s just a little bit different right now,”
— South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, on CNN, dismissing President Trump’s efforts to portray Democratic policies as “socialist.”

“People have already taken to social media, using the hashtag #GOPTaxScam, to vent their anger… The uproar comes after President Trump and congressional Republicans passed a major overhaul of the tax code in December 2017, the biggest legislative achievement of the president’s first year.”
I really DO hope a lot of those people voted GOP and Trump. Just how did they expect the huge tax cuts for Exxon, Wells Fargo, the the Trump Organization and their ilk were going to be paid for? Those who didn’t vote GOP/Trump should be even more politically activated, it seems to me.
Warren Suggests Trump Might Be In Prison Before Election February 10, 2019 By Taegan Goddard
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) told voters that President Trump might be unable to finish his term, firing back at him for the first time since his reelection campaign attacked her rollout, the Washington Post reports.
Said Warren: “By the time we get to 2020, Donald Trump may not be president. In fact, he may not even be a free person.”
