'Reply' isn't working. Thanks, Alan, for the 'aliens are coming' link. It gave me a hearty laugh. Somehow, I don't think I'll regard yogurt in quite the same way ever again.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned that Our Revolution is rounding up volunteers for Bernie's presidential campaign. Clearly _they_ think he is going to run. And he, more than anyone else, is prepared to hit the ground running.
Thanks, Bill. Yep, I got the email. I would love for Bernie to run. I would love to support him. But I really don't want him to have to go through all of that again if the DNC is just going to shoot him down. What I really want is for Bernie to run as an Independent. I want another party or, better, parties than just two. Progressive would be nice too. I'm tired of both the parties we now have and they are so impossibly polarised. Having a few more parties would humble them down a little.
And I am sick and tired of hearing people speak of that being a bad thing because it would "split the vote." No, it would BE the vote. My vote is MY voice not the Party's voice that I'm supposed to sing along with. I'm sick and tired of the DNC telling We the People who they want us to vote for. The Government is supposed to serve us, not the other way around.
Anyway, I sincerely trust Bernie and believe he would make a stellar President. He also deserves a chance, given how much he has done for us, all these years, but especially these last four years. My intuition doesn't feel comfortable with Elizabeth Warren, at least not yet. And I'm still considering how I feel about Joe Biden. I'd like to see some younger people get into the mix, as well. Just not sure who. I heard that Kamala Harris has announced and will do so formally soon. ANY of them would be a huge improvement over DT.
Multiple parties are only viable long-term when the legislature is in charge and you can have a coalition government. If you have a strong executive elected independently of the legislature, only a two-party system is stable.
I don't think of the apparatus in Washington as "the party." The party is the people who vote in the primary and select the candidates. And who donate time and money to get there preferred candidates elected.
First of all, I decided to look into Cafe Press again after several years. Only, repeatedly, the design screen goes blank and inert. So, that pretty much put the kibosh on that idear!
So then, tonight, I have been trying to work on my "Rescuers Down Under" quiz. That's been going well; watching some of the movie, working on a question and answer with attendant info, and so forth. Or it would be going well, except MSWord keeps closing. Even that would be manageable, if annoying, except each time I open the file again, the system tells me it is locked, being used by another user to be precise, and can only be opened in read only. So I open and save as and keep working. I'm up to mark 4, and not halfway through the quiz. Finally closed up in frustration. I can work on it tomorrow.
At least Dad was able to fix my monitor. Thank Heaven for small mercies! He said there was a loose connection.
I know there are extremely serious problems out there. But, you know, sometimes it's the small stuff that drives you round the bend!
There are big, serious problems out there and little stuff that affects us directly. Being human, it's the stuff that affects us directly that really bothers us.
I'm trying to remember what I do when Word crashes and then tells me the file is still open. I think I just restart the computer. Which is annoying enough.
Truth is FIRST!

ReplyDeleteI spent Thursday mostly shoveling snow. We had 21" by 9:00pm and it was still snowing. Early morning on Friday...more when I can!
Just a brief dusting here. Mostly blown away. But bitter.
ReplyDeleteWe are having a spot of what used to be typical winter weather. Some rain, and a fair amount of fog.

I may have missed this on a previous thread? But just incase, you have to see this!
DeleteCBS has confirmed the validity of this information. On 9 May 1958 an episode of Trackdown aired in which a conman comes to town and tries to convince people that they need a wall and he's the only person who can build it. The conman's name is Trump. He is called a liar by the Sheriff. The last line of the episode is, "YOu're under arrest, Trump."
