Come to think of it, I have seen similar erosion of bricks in the very oldest brick buildings in California--there just aren't very many old brick buildings out here because wood has historically been inexpensive, and brick expensive, compared to back east. And Mother Nature's building inspectors [AKA earthquakes] are not kind to brick structures.
"Er, who's Howard Schultz?" The former CEO of Starabucks, a long-time Democratic supporter, who is beating the drums for a run as an independent presidential candidate. I agree that he is likely to be less of a threat than some people are trying to make out (probably as a fundraising maneuver).
17th-century joke: Is it true the Pope is not Catholic? Hush! He is most Christian.
Context: The Pope supported the decision of His Most Christian Majesty, the King of France, to intervene on the nominally Protestant side in the Thirty Years War. The nominally Catholic side had been mostly bankrolled by His Catholic Majesty, the King of Spain.
He clearly doesn't understand basic English. What AOC appears to be proposing is not a 70% income tax but a 70% tax on certain earnings over a certain amount. This proposal would pair nicely with Warren's proposal IMO.
But what I started to say was, Shultz doesn't seem to understand basic English; but then, that hasn't deterred Fart.

For the first time in years, the United States is no longer in the top 20 least corrupt countries, according to the annual global corruption index compiled by Transparency International.
Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren blasted President Trump over the end to the government shutdown, saying he “backed down” and gave Speaker Nancy Pelosi “key to the castle."

A senior United Nations judge who worked in one of the body's international courts is reportedly resigning over "shocking" political interference from the Trump administration and Turkey, saying the U.S. made threats to judges.
Republican leaders in Texas have warned President Trump and the Republican National Committee that Trump could lose the reliably red state in his 2020 reelection bid, predicting Democrats will be more energized and organized.
Erik Wickman The top 5 most populous cities (Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin and El Paso) all voted overwhelmingly for both Hillary and Beto. The times are a-changing in Texas.
So what's old is new again? I must say it is gratifying to see some Democratic politicians acting like Democrats again. And to see bullionaires [how's that for a neologism?] quaking in their boots when a young gal from the Bronx tells them off. I have been wondering for quite some time where our Huey Long [Click] is; could AOC be the one?
Huey is a fascinating character, it seems to me. He did a lot of good for a lot of people, but before he could do anything big he had to break the existing power structure, which was not easy. It seems to me that he became obsessed with gaining political power, losing sight of why he sought it.
My replies on the last thread keep disappearing. I’ll try again tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteAs for the photo for the new thread, what strikes me is the erosion of the bricks. Wonder if it could be due to the hard winters, or just age.
