listener—I am making progress with the text transfer to my acrylic painting. The wax paper transfer didn’t work. Tracing paper couldn’t get through the laser printer, but could get through the inkjet printer. Mod Podge has too much water in it—causes the Bristol paper to warp, and when used as a sealer it smudges the print. BUT—good old rubber cement works fine as an adhesive. Maybe a bit of spray sealer will help, but maybe it isn’t necessary. I have some spray fixative for pencil—might as well experiment with that.
Off to the SF Bay Area in the morning—probably won’t be here tomorrow (Sunday).
What Six Senators Said About Their Kavanaugh Votes [Click] One of the six is Kamala Harris, who has bee touted as a Presidential candidate. Her bit here is not impressive—it is disorganized, unclear and not completely coherent. I expect better in a President.
Where I am it is currently 76 degrees, 78 percent humidity and dewpoint of 65 degrees. In other words, it's hot and steamy and uncomfortable, not at all what an October day in Massachusetts ought to be. BLECK!
I think we need to wait until after the Election, as this won't fly yet. But I know my Rep, Peter Welch, is utterly opposed to Kavanugh, so I am hopeful.
If your heart could use an antidote to all the negative human experience we have witnessed recently, I recommend the book The Scent of Water by Elizabeth Goudge. It is set in England in the years after WWII. The protagonist lived in London through the Blitz. She is a woman of the best sort of sensitivity toward others, and a person of faith deeper than she realises. The author’s utter respect for the dignity of every person, the deep appreciation for beauty, and all offered with superb writing skill, is proving to be exactly what I needed this week to remind my soul of what we can be, and how very much we are not alone. The gorgeous garden descriptions alone make me know I will want to read this again come January. It is a contemplative read. There is much in just a few pages, so one may sip it very slowly as life allows. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/673799.The_Scent_of_Water

Good for you, persevering, Alan. Presentation matters. It's like a frame for your artwork.
