It's hard to imagine any direct connection to the Trump Tower meeting, since that was a total dud: Goldstone's claim that the Russian lawyer had election-relevant information was a lie from the beginning. Not everything has to tie together than directly.
Thanks, Bill. I've been just sort of spacing out. Couldn't account satisfactorily for my time if I had to.
Although, I have been reading books in Mercedes Lackey's Elemental Masters series, rereading the first four to be published and catching up with the rest. The gimmick of the series is that each book is based, more or less, on a fairy tale. To my mind, the series is uneven, some of the books being good, absorbing reads with engaging and even sympathetic characters and some less so. But since there's little if any continuing story line, I suppose that's to be expected.
I've also been spending (or should that be wasting? :)) time playing a computer game I discovered during the summer. Armadillo Army is produced by the American Printing House for the Blind. So, it is actually designed for blind and visually impaired players. In fact, it has two modes, Blind and Low Vision. I was practically in tears the first time I tried the demo. Children's game or not, it's marvelous to have a computer game specifically designed for someone like me. It's a maze-type arcade game, with sound effects and verbal cues that make it totally accessible. Like any computer game, it's addictive; but I console myself with the knowledge that on the APH site, it is listed under visual training. So, it must be good for me, right? At any rate, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
But, now that Fall's here, I've got to get back in the groove.
How about that Beto O'Rourke, eh? Something I was reading today said that even if the Reps can pull out that seat, they will have had to spend a great deal more on that race than they intended, meaning they'll have to pull funds away from other races. So, I reckon, even if Beto doesn't actually win, he will have performed a very valuable service.
My on-line reading group is currently doing Novik's Spinning Silver. Like the Lackey, it is based on a fairy tale, with call-outs to others. The first chapters are so grim-dark I would have been tempted to give up, but as we get closer to the end it looks like things may work out. Although it's not yet really clear how. But the book is definitely engrossing.
As it stands, right now, Cooter is coming to get ma and Beau on Friday morning. This one is feeling to my neighbors like a replay of Juan in 85, and they're totally terrified for me. I gave Nancy permission to call him, and they rested their hearts a bit, so. Then DC TV said only two inches, and he seems to be wavering. Me? I'm just waiting. . . .
Luckily, I just changed my BP meds, and am doing wonderfully well under the new (old) regimen. I was a bit concerned they're so low (vide 101/42), but I feel fine, not woozy at all, and my pulse ox is averaging 93+. Talked to docs, they're fine with it being this low since I'm feeling so good. So.
What's the harm in Cooter coming for you and you going there for a week or so?
Could be harm in not going, since storms are unpredictable.
But, yeah, the storm is weakening a little bit, and looks like it will meander a tad south before heading inland much. But last I saw, the remains will go over WVA on the way back toward DC. And this one is definitely a rainmaker.
They *deserve* to lose the Senate. What have they done with it but hurt the 98%? Denied Obama his justice on the Supreme Court - now showing a right-wing extremest onto the court - or trying to. Shoveling money by the barrel to the rich and dismantling programs for those who need them. Sitting silently by while an unfit crazed moron occupies the White House. Yeah, they NEED to go down and go down hard. I want to see the Evil Turtle weep.

PS: When Florence weakened in intensity, it grew larger in size. It's nearly 400 miles across, and of that 140 is hurricane strength.

DeleteEvil Turtle?

Mitch McConnell because he's been likened to a turtle multiple times. Look at a turtle sticking its head out of the shell and you'll see why.
DeleteEven without looking, I see that--scrawny neck sticking out of the shirt collar.
