  1. This a.m. I had a serious fuss wit my ownself. I wanted so badly to call and cancel my doc's apt. Didn't. Got up, dressed, came down. Coffee. Phone rang. It was the clinic. My Physisian's Assistant wasn't coming in. Would I mind rescheduling? I know she wasn't getting what I was laughing about. . . .

    Prosecutors Have the Receipts

First Read: “When it comes to Michael Cohen’s claim that he was directed by an unnamed candidate in 2016 — Donald Trump — to make payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal to influence the 2016 election, there’s something important to remember.”

“Prosecutors say they have audio recordings, text messages and phone records about Cohen’s payments — and the intent behind them.”

And from the Department of Good News, NHK News just had a segment on recent immigrants repopulating dying towns in Italy. There is lots of housing available in such places, and rebounding populations make restoration of services, schools, and other social goods possible.

  4. Back in April, the IRS sent us a letter "proposing" that we send them 9.9 Kilobucks for 2016 taxes; it all related to investment income and distributions, and looked screwy. I sent them the supporting documents and a cover letter, and today we got their reply: "How's $225 plus interest?" I had an attack of vertigo, which means I had been pretty worried about it (small wonder). Wow.

    1. I should have said "9.9 Kilobucks *more* for 2016 taxes"

If I only missed by $225 bucks, that's pretty close to perfect. But starting this coming tax season I am going to have a tax preparer do the figuring. The investment/distributions stuff has become exceedingly difficult; I have been sweating it for several years.
