A Hole in the Sky 😉

  1. Another Day, Another Heatwave...

Another day of 90's in the east, smoke in the west. And a whole lot of smoke and mirrors in DC.

  2. High temps here in the low 90's F here lately, which is a bit below average; very noticeably reduced smoke, too. I visit the DMV to renew my driver's license this morning; have to take the written test because of my age, and bring documents to get a Real ID compliant DL so I needn't take my passport on a domestic flight. --Alan

“An interesting article! Another possibility [for Dem Pres. nominee 2020] is Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon.” I hadn’t paid him any attention to speak of; on your recommendation I will remedy that. —Alan

    1. 😂😂😂

      I don't know. I could see a Bernie Sanders/Jeff Merkley ticket.

Elizabeth Warren would be an interesting candidate, but a Sanders/Warren or even Warren/Sanders ticket wouldn't likely fly since both are from New England.

Bernie certainly deserves the nomination, should he run.

    2. Wikipedia's entry on Jeff Merkley sounds pretty good; but he seems a lackluster public speaker, to judge from his 2016 Democratic convention speech. Then again, it may have been dictated by some committee.

  4. Written driver's license exam was a piece of cake, and the wait didn't amount to much because I made an appointment and filled out the application online.

    1. Excellent! Drive on, Alan!

So, is this also your birthday? Else why are you renewing it now?

  5. Proud Mom alert!

Eldest was featured yesterday on Vermont Public Radio's Vermont Edition as a Poison Parsnip Warrior (which sounds rather badass), for his efforts to remove poison parsnip plants in his town. In the last three years, he has removed at least 9000 plants. He has also rallied others to join him in the effort. The segment gave very useful information about the plants and how to safely remove them.

Here's the link so you can listen to the podcast:

    1. Poison parsnip? Aha--water hemlock, cowbane. Sounds like it is or was a very serious problem thereabouts!
