Spring always wins.

  1. Cat--I was thinking about Secretary Pruitt's bullet-resistant car seat covers. Conventional seat covers would give him some protection if an ecoterrorist were to slip into the trunk of his limousine; but another alternative also presents itself: this [Click] or (more seriously) this [Click]

  2. Washington Post: “Trump was infuriated by the seizure of possibly sensitive correspondence involving work that Cohen — his close friend, consigliere and personal ‘fixer’ — was doing on his behalf and believed Mueller’s team was operating in bad faith.”

“Trump was so upset, in fact, that he had trouble concentrating on plans that were laid out for him that day by his national security team about potential options for targeted missile strikes on Syria… In recent days, Trump has grown increasingly agitated, railing against members of his beleaguered team.”

Gee, imagine that. Maybe the poor fellow needs a nice long rest. Without a TV set.

  4. Just reflecting on Cohen, Trump and the Trump Organization, and their associations with various mobsters, it occurred to me to wonder if it would all eventuate in a RICO prosecution [Click] I can certainly see that happening; a fellow can dream, certainly... Looking at the Wikipedia RICO link, I was reminded that the Trump University case was a RICO class action suit that didn't go to trial after Trump coughed up 25 megabucks.

  5. Spring always wins eventually. But when. With temps hovering right around freezing, it's iffy whether our current light rain will turn to light snow.

But OK, it's supposed to be in the 50s by Friday. If it lasts, you can call that spring.

"Sean Hannity has more power right now in the United States than a jackass like him should ever have. I mean, think about it. How many people in this country could actually call into the White House and immediately be put through to the president? Only a handful, and most of them are probably Republican donors. I don’t imagine Charles Koch would be left on hold very long, but it would probably be longer than Sean Hannity is. Fox News is now calling the shots. Fox News is helping to run this country. All the racism, all the bigotry, all the hatred, all the misinformation that we have seen out of Fox News for the last few decades is now in charge of crafting policy in this country because Donald Trump is too stupid and incompetent to be able to do it himself. Can you imagine being incompetent on a level to where Sean Hannity has to help you out because you’re not good enough to do it? That’s what we’re living in right now, and we will continue to be living in this state of Fox News and the White House sharing one brain until Donald Trump gets removed from office."

  7. In reply to Susan's post, I think crediting Fox News and the White House with an entire brain between them is going too far.--Alan

Cuba gets its first President of the post-revolutionary generation.[Click] Raul Castro steps aside as President, but will remain First Secretary of the Communist Party for another three years.

It seems that there is an unintended loophole in NY double jeopardy law that could preclude prosecution under state law if the President pardons someone; read the AG’s request to the Governor and Legislature to promptly fix the problem here[Click] or here.[Click]

  8. Hey, Bill, I don't know about outside, but I've been Spring Cleaning in my kitchen. Working on cleaning out all the cupboards and drawers, and just have 4 drawers to go to finish. Then I want to scrub the outside of all the cupboards and put on some cabinet protection. At last! Next up is the Art Closet, before VT*Grand (age 10) comes to spend a few days (Sun-Tues) during school vacation week.

Friday is the wake for our sister-in-law, over in Maine. We're again driving "there and back again" same day, as our grandson's 5th birthday party is the next morning at 10am. Heh. Gonna sleep in on Sunday morning and prepare for VT*Grand to come.

    1. A bit disappointed, though, because originally we were going to have our 3 eldest grands here for an overnight this weekend. But other schedules got in the way. Phooey. I miss them so much!

  9. River's been barely sheeting over the bridge for two days. Warmish today. Not heard any peepers yet--they're more than three weeks late.
