Good morning. I don't mean to be a downer, but exporting people is important. What ICE is doing is simply the reverse of importing Africans to the colonies. So, I wrote this up.
The culture of obedience is perforce coercive. It is the nature of culture to be coercive. It is unnatural because the natural condition of humans is liberty.
In other words, the culture of obedience is abusive. That is true whether the individual consents to the coercion or is physically restrained. Moreover, because it is unnatural, the culture of obedience relies on irrational demands. That is, the prescribed behaviors are irrational. Exporting socially connected productive and talented people is a good example of the unreason that pervades the culture of obedience, whether compliance is the result of consent or restraint. Both the perps and their victims are enmeshed in an abusive system and provide a good example of how abuse is transmitted. The jailors are abusive to the captives because they themselves are coerced into doing things that violate their sense of justice. The result is that they are associated by guilt. Guilt is a powerful tie and is why abuse breeds abuse.
That is why there has to be an intervention from outside. The community has to call a halt.
We are seeing first-hand how the enslavement of Africans came to be perceived as morally beneficial.
The problem arises from the fact that obedience is a virtue arising from the natural impulse to imitate apparently beneficial behavior. What we tend to miss is that virtue coerced turns into vice. We should know that from intercourse. Perhaps the problem is that coercion is hard, if not impossible, to see.
I really, really hate ICE. The inhumanity and viciousness they display is absolutely staggering. Given that ICE only came into existence in 2003 I firmly believe ICE should be abolished.
They are worse than ever because our "pretend president" is working hard to Make America White Again. He can't go down soon enough and hard enough to suit me.
The now retired head of La Migra hereabouts had harsh words in public--in an opinion piece in the newspaper--for ICE and its poorly trained, poorly screened agents.
I agree completely about ICE. As I recall, though, the INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service) wasn't much better. The entire system needs to be thoroughly overhauled, with education and training of agents improved. It might also help if they hired people who don't regard immigrants, legal or otherwise, as vermin.

IRS Computers Crash Just Before Tax Filing Deadline April 17, 2018 By Taegan Goddard

Today’s Episode of The Josh Marshall Podcast[Click] is a bit different. Want to know how Donald Trump got this deep in with Michael Cohen? Where Cohen came from? We pack the whole story into a single episode from the early days at the mob social club with Felix and the crew (a la Spider and Henry Hill) to the Ukraine-money-backed taxi and casino cruise businesses, his Ukraine based operations, the big prize tens of millions dollar investments in New York City real estate. Trump brought Cohen in to the Trump Organization because he was a conduit for Russian and Ukrainian money. In the last ten years Cohen has touched virtually every part of the Russia story and Trump’s vast and opaque business dealings around the country and the world. Trump is worried because he should be worried. In this episode we explain why. I’m joined by my co-host David Taintor and TPM Reporter Allegra Kirkland who covers the Cohen beat and was in the court room downtown Friday and yesterday. Listen on iTunes or Google Play or use our Podcast RSS feed. If you’re on iTunes or Google Play please subscribe. That helps us build audience. We hope you enjoy.
