Goodbye November

  1. “Staffers for Senate Republicans’ campaign arm seized information on more than 200,000 donors from the House GOP campaign committee over several months this year by breaking into its computer system,” Politico reports.

    No honor among theives?

    1. What's the point if they're all Republicans?

  2. I used to really enjoy the internet. I don't anymore. It seems clear that the GOP is going to pass this monster "Tax Bill" in spite of all pleas and objections. I really do believe we're facing a Second Great Depression. They are setting up the exact same circumstances that caused the first one. It seems we the people have no power and the people who *do* have power only use it for their own benefit.

How bad will it have to get before the revolution starts?

  3. Very long day at work Wednesday--boatloads of work, instrument failures that had to be repaired on the fly, etc. Finished up at 11:15 PM, then up at 5:45 AM to get to court in Fremont (3.5 hours' drive) by 10:30. Heavy fog along one highway. Tired. Cobwebby floaters in right eye noted 6PM Wed., worse this morning. Appointment with ophthalmologist at 0900 Friday. Miyoko came along to provide company and help with driving. That meant we could use the express toll lanes for free; that part was good.

Realized that the ersatz coffeeI have been drinking has too much soluble fiber for my innards--it acts as a very mild laxative. Now trying to find a promising decaf instant coffee; I think I should prefer one decaffeinated with a water or CO2 process rather than organic solvent extraction, but it is hard to identify which ones are made that way--and instant is not easy to find.

    1. I think I will stop by Trader Joe's and see if they still carry their instant decaf.

    2. Alan, I drink Mount Hagan organic FairTrade instant Coffee. It's freeze-dried and uses a natural process (not chemicals). I drink it in decaf, while Mah*Sweetie drinks it straight-up. It makes a really good black coffee and is probably the one coffee on Earth that we both like! Ha! He tends towards Dunkin Donuts coffee and I can't stand it. I like Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, but he won't touch anything even slightly flavoured. A 3.53oz jar makes 60 cups!

  4. Bother! The reply function won't work.

Alan, Postum makes a coffee flavored drink. Though I haven't tried it, I very much like their cocoa. I also like ordinary Postum.
