Next come The Oranges

  1. Alan, thank you for the video of the Santa Rosa fire. How utterly devastating and so very much of it...! One of the seekers I sit with (who seeks spiritual guidance) is grieving as her sister and her sister's significant other had to flee at 3:30am from Santa Rosa. They had only themselves, their car and their two cats in carriers. Everything else they owned is gone. So relieved they made it out.

    1. I suppose one lesson to be learned is to take fire resistance of houses seriously. I am troubled by our neighbor's trees that are too close to our house; if their (old and poorly built) house should catch fire, the (sickly) trees could carry the fire to our house. Our house is stucco, with a fire-proof roof and closed eaves, but there is nothing we can do or they will do about those trees.

  2. I used to really enjoy Facebook. Lots of funny photos and tips to help with various things: downsizing, gift-making. But now it's pretty much ruined with all the Cheetolini outrages. I can't read it for long without feeling my blood pressure climb.

My escape used to be mindless gossips columns. Now? All Harvey Weinstein all the time. Ugh.

    1. I saw somewhere that the National Enquirer was bought by some friend of Trump or Bannon or some such. Haven't seen any space aliens or alligator boys on the covers since then...

  3. I'm glad I turned the furnace on yesterday because it was 40 degrees last night. The guy came to do our annual furnace inspections and he said he had frost on his windshield this morning. At the slow rate I work these days I hope I can get room in the garage for the car before the snow flies. I don't know if my slowdown is mental or physical, but I only get 3 or 4 hours of work in these days. My brother left a TON of stuff here - especially in the garage - and now he's sick and too weak to take care of it. I managed to get the lower level pretty much finished and my rented off-site storage empty, but I just don't have the working power I used to have. I think I need a trainer!

    1. Not sure if it's the same thing, but I find that these days I typically sleep 8-10 hours at night and then take an hour-and-a-half nap in the afternoon. Doesn't leave a lot of time to get things done.

  4. Their house burned down. When they went back to look at it, their cat was there!! Great story!
