Last come The Yellows!!

  1. It occurred to me to wonder if my great-grandparents' house near Napa might have burnt in the fire. It seems the fire stopped a few miles north. And thanks to the Google camera car I could see what the place looks like these days--pretty nice, considering its age. I hadn't been by there in close to 30 years; stopped by to show Miyoko and Naomi the place, and met the daughter of the couple who bought the property from my great aunt--back in the late 1940's, I estimate. The house has a nice view down over slightly rolling land to the far NE edge of San Francisco Bay, near where the Napa River empties into it. As far as I can remember, no one ever said anything to me about it, but I think they must have seen the smoke from San Francisco burning in 1906. It's about 20 miles away as the crow (or sea gull?) flies.

    1. Wow, that's such a good thing that the house still stands, Alan. Close one!

Actually, Crows fly fairly straight, while Gulls tend to zig zag, bob and weave. Best to stick with the Crows, I guess. Ha!

  2. Pretty series of photos over the past few days, Listener.

Susan, I myself don't post as much Cheeto-in-Chief stuff as in earlier months. Trying to post other stuff, including uplifting or smile-making human interest. It isn't easy though. My blood pressure soars and my finger automatically reaches for the 'Share' button.

    1. Thanks, Cat! It's been such a beautiful season, after all. We weren't sure at first because it was so dry leaves just turned straight to brown, or came to color for a day then wilted! But after the first rain it's been fabulous again. =Whew!=

  3. I've been collecting cards to send to Kimmy in Oregon, and today I got them all mailed off. She will have them in hand on Saturday. Susan, I also took a moment and looked at the cards you sent, since you left the envelopes open so I could. Good choices! I especially liked the one that expresses looking though cards for the right one. So good.
I'll see if I can get a more recent update. Last I heard, she was doing better cognitively after they were able to reduce her meds. Hoping.

    1. Yes, that card was my favorite too. Though the doggie one kind of made me giggle.

  4. Cat, if I had the power to reach through the interwebs and "tear him a new one" he would spout water like a super-sized sprinkler every time he took a drink. Maybe after Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell get done robbing us they'll FINALLY do something about the stench in the White House!
