Alan, Chris Isaak sings a song called "Dark Moon" (see link). I think it originally came out in the '50s, possibly by somebody like Gale Storm? Will investigate further.

Yep, found it. I like this version a lot better. She has crisp enunciation for one thing. For another, the arrangements sounds more Western and less Country to my ear. But, as I said, to each her own.
I got my wires a little crossed in the previous comments...Dark Moon Rising was what I was thinking of, and that seems to be a poorly received werewolf movie of recent provenance.
