Here's a good article. I don't receive MSNBC, but it doesn't make sense to me that Chris Matthews or other alleged news people should be scaremongering. I think the Dem Party was saner with Howard Dean at the helm.
Born in '40 here--feel like I've spent my life watching my problems get solved for the boomers, lol! (e.g., when I looked for daycare, there was virtually none. . . . a few old ladies opening their houses. Some of which were positively dangerous to the children.
Close paren. . . . One old lady seem to have confused roach spray with fly repellant, and was spraying the children with it to keep flies away. . . . (Yes, I reported her.)
There may have been loans for college, but I never heard tell. If your savings and part time job didn't do it, you skipped a quarter. Of course I stopped and had two babies in the middle, but it still took me 11 years to do it.
I hear you, puddle. Siblings of ours who were 8-10 years older than we did GREAT. By the time we got to the same age they'd been at, there wasn't so much left (of whatever it was) to go around. We got the short end of the stick on the cost of a house, the ability to save, and so on. The bulk of the Boomers are just ahead of us. But the time we get there the programs have been cut back or the money has run out. They are retiring with big pensions with which to travel the world. We are just hoping to pay off debt before we retire so we can afford to live. The one thing we got lucky on was college loans…sort of.
By the way! Grandson will be three weeks old tomorrow. He was born weighing 5lbs, 10oz. Two days later was down to 5lbs, 1oz. But now is up to 7lbs, 1oz! His cheeks are filling out nicely and Mama is very happy. :-)
