It occurs to me that if Jeb Bush were to commit to Kinky Friedman as his running mate, that would put voting Republican in another light altogether. The question would then become “Does Jeb Bush have a weak ticker?”

listener--I was reading about pronunciation mergers and splits and was reminded of one you might be familiar with. They say the distinction was common in your area in the 1930's, not so much today--so it should remain in the speech of older folks: horse/hoarse. My Webster's dictionary from my high school days indicates a difference in pronunciation too, but it isn't clear to me just what it is. Do you hear a difference?

Wait, I suspect that horse is spoken the same as hoarse, but hoarse may be slightly more drawn out.
