  1. Dean is First even when it's 109F, eh Alan?

  2. Gov. Peter Shumlin (D-VT) has decided not to run for re-election. I worked for Doug Racine's campaign, so I'm not altogether sorry. Could we have Howard Dean back? If not, we might get stuck with another Republican. Help!

  3. So, I set off driving up our road today when suddenly I heard a scraping sound beneath my car. Ruh roh. I'm thinking it's too soon for a muffler issue, could it be brake pads? Did I catch a branch? I pull off, kneel on the one dry patch of road and peer underneath and sure enough a branch is lodged. So I grab the easel pad from my back seat, put it on the ground, lie down on it in my pale pink outfit and remove the branch. On the road again in under 30 seconds. I feel empowered! LOL!

    1. Same son leaves tomorrow for a three week expedition to an island near Hudson Bay where he will be doing Shorebird research. He'll get sworn in later in July and it's a 3 year term. Very excited!!

    2. …of course, most of the others on the Selectboard are Republicans. (They really need him.)

  5. Thirty seconds is WAY fast, listener!

Cloudy and looking like there might be a thunderstorm all day today; 88 degrees on the way home, which is certainly an improvement over [under?] 109 degrees.

Think I'll watch Nicol Sturgeon vs. Jon Stewart, and then maybe Galaxy Quest.

    1. Sorry, I didn't realize that was only a short clip. Here's The Whole Interview [Click]

BTW, I am continuing to make progress with un-merging the Mary-marry-merry merger in my speech. It isn't yet fully automatic, but I'm getting there. Here's a bit of practice that borders on being a tongue-twister:

Hairy Harry will marry merry Mary.

Hairy rhymes with Mary, Harry with marry, and merry with, well, merry. Or berry . Except there aren't any berries in there.

Don't say: Herry Herry will merry merry Merry.

      And thus to bed.
