  1. So, how be everyone today?

Mah*Sweetie is improving. He is sitting up and a short while ago he actually ventured to eat a little soup. I drove his car again today. I could tell I was starting to go down, so I thought I'd better get to the store while I still could. I bought an extra thermometer (the mom meter) so we won't have to share. I also bought some locally made soup and various crackers and Vermont unsweetened applesauce. That with plain Greek yogurt ought to get me through until Friday when I will probably be pulling out of it. Meanwhile, my Mini should be ready tomorrow. Hope so!

  2. I bought a new 5 TB external hard drive today to use for my local backups. That's in addition to my backups to the cloud. I've been using the disk from my old computer (2 TB) installed in an external drive case, but a couple of days ago it was vibrating and the computer wouldn't recognize it. Settled down after I turned it off and back on, but I figured that was a sign of impending old age and implied it was time for a new one.

Used Goodshop at Tiger Direct, so the Disability Pride Parade gets $7 out of this.

    1. Good planning, Bill.

I seriously need to do backups. It's been too long. It's been about a YEAR! Argh!
So I will need a new big external drive to put all my photos onto. Yikes!

  3. puddle, I just saw your post about the Mercedes as loaner cars. I think loner car is the better term, as that's how I'd feel in one of them. Poetic slip? :-D

    1. Nope, the loaners were Buicks and Cadillacs whilst they repaired your (my) Mercedes. (Only one I've ever owned, and I adored it, but had to replace it when I came here--no one could fix it/work on it.)

  4. "Trading transportation costs for heating costs (at least in northern climes). "

Nope!! Very little heating costs. In addition to solar they keep barrels full of water inside the domes. The sun heats them up and they give off heat at night. Might be a brief time in Winter when you've got to use a small heater due to a string of cloudy days. Or you could decide to grow only cold crops during January-February. Would be fine the rest of the year.

    2. Are we talking about hydroponics as in Science Fiction?

    3. No, it's aquaponics. Hydroponics grows plants. Aquaponics grows both plants and fish in a symbiotic relationship.

    4. Bill, the dome is made of triangular panels, some clear panels and some solar panels. It's really pretty efficient!

  5. Temps in the mid 40s today and mainly sunny, though Sis and I were sure we heard sleet against the window in the evening. Looking forward to the warmth of Spring!

  6. You *did* hear sleet, Catreona. Some areas west of you had light hail.
