  2. Got up to 57 degs yesterday, while today's high is projected to be 37. Snow gone, naturally. No snow in the week's forecast, though a couple of rainy days.

Went to the dentist yesterday for two fillings - well, one filling and one repair of an old filling. The one on the top was a breeze; the one on the bottom, not so much. It took forever for the anesthetic to take on the bottom. Dr. Hanna explained that the upper jaw is more porous, so the medication enters more easily and reaches the tooth faster. Correspondingly, the numbness wears off faster. The lower jaw is denser, with all that implies. It also seemed to take more Novocain to do the job on the bottom. Not fun.

I think of it as Novocain, but I could have sworn Dr. Hanna said tequila! Unfortunately, I couldn't ask her about it.

  3. My first encounter with a dentist: I was maybe 10, Had fallen out of the upper bunk, and sheered off the outside half of my upper left bicuspid. Since it was a baby tooth they decided to just pull it. So she gave me a shot of Novocain. In fifteen minutes, she asked: Is it numb yet. Nope. In another, Nope. In another, Nope. Have you ever had Novocain before? Nope. Well, then, you must not know what numb is. And she pulled the tooth. Hurt like Hell. . . . And as we were leaving the building through the lobby, it went numb. Haven't really ever trusted a dentist again, lol!

    1. Holy shit, Puddle! ♥ What an insensitive lout! Numb is numb and has nothing to do with whether you've ever had Novocain before. I hope you left deep, permanent teeth marks on her hand!

    2. Nope, but the whole family changed dentist's, lol! Nice at least that my mother trusted my take on it.

  5. 19 month old Grandson had his tonsils out on Tuesday, along with his adenoids. The surgeon said they were huge and their removal should make a huge difference! We hope so. He's had fevers, sore throats, nightmares and night terrors for the better part of a year. The night before surgery he woke up an hour after his parents had gone to bed, with the worst night terror yet. It was so bad they had to put him into the car and drive him around to calm him back to sleep. In the morning they drove to the hospital, having been driving around all night so he could manage to sleep. Son Jonah (our youngest), Grandson's Dad, told me he would stay with him as long as possible before surgery, and were it allowed he would be willing to stay with him right through the surgery. I love him so much for saying that!
The little guy needed morphine after the surgery this morning, but is improving. He even sang a little of "E-I-E-I-O"! :-) Home tomorrow if the night goes well.

    1. Wow! That's WAY different from removing the tonsils and adenoids just because it's stylish, as I suspect it was for several of us.
