OMG. 9 a.m. on a Saturday morning and my psycho-about-their-lawn neighbors are outside my bedroom with their screaming leaf blower!! I didn't even tell you about the time a few weeks ago when they were out there with the leaf blower IN THE HEAVILY FALLING SNOW. Two of the most self-involved and inconsiderate people I've ever had as neighbors. Just lucky I guess.
Lucky for you that you stock up. We have been talking about putting in some pantry shelves and stocking up on things we can stand to eat out of a can. That way if we get snowed in like Buffalo, we won't have to go hungry.
Susan, if your grandson likes books about magic, he might enjoy Susan Cooper's Dark Is Rising sequence. The first book is Over Sea, Under Stone... Seems to me the whole five-book series comes in a boxed set. Presumably he's read C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia? I also liked The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke. Kind'a weird but interesting.
Odd... I remember reading yesterday's thread - guess I didn't post there.
On Thursday I tried pumpkin pie to please Dad. Always before, the supermarket where he orders our Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner has allowed him to substitute apple for pumpkin. This year there's a new kitchen manager, who wouldn't let him substitute. So, he had to buy the apple and blueberry separately, which meant he was stuck with the pumpkin. So, I decided to give it a try, though my expectations were not high. Much to my surprise, I loved it! Live and learn.
I also like cherry, key lime(sp?) and pecan pies. I love apple brown Betty but my favorite pie is one made by Marie Calendar called Razzle-berry, which is raspberry and blackberry. Scrumptious!
Howard is always first, and I really, really wish he would rally the troops. His "What I want to know" speech is even more relevant today.
ReplyDeletelistener, left a reply for you on the last thread.

ReplyDeleteThey must be related to our next door neighbors.
DeleteToday was the first time in many days that we got over freezing! Road still not plowed. But have to admit that it's gorgeous!!
