  1. Susan, is the pincushion really the size of a beanbag chair, or did you hold it up to the camera?

    1. It's really that big. I had it right against my body. There actually is a strawberry hanging from the top, but it's off to the side and doesn't show very well in the photo.

    2. I can see the strawberry just fine. That is awesome!! What size pins do you use? LOL!

    3. I didn't really make it for any use. Just because I thought it was funny. Though I will be using it as a photo prop next month. All my grands and me with the giant pincushion, giant buttons and a giant ruler. Might make a giant spool of thread - haven't decided yet.

    5. I vote YES for the giant Spool of thread. You could use yarn or rope for the "thread"! :-D

What is beneath all the rhetoric?

What would cause the hatred and fighting to cease?

    1. Thanks for your comment, puddle. I have felt all week like any time I might comment on this subject anywhere I am somehow insulting someone. Emotions are running high and this is such a hard situation!!

  4. Cloudy and continued warm (around 100 degrees F). Some thunder, lightning (evidently quite some distance away) and rain last night (early Wenesday morning). Unusual for this time of year, but not unheard of. We are being asked to limit electricity use at times of highest demand, and new watering rules go into effect August first. It takes a bit of tinkering with the sprinkler timer. This evening I found two sprinkler heads that needed adjustment to decrease their output. Our new car in the body shop to have the right rear view mirror and associated stuff fixed--crunched by an inattentive truck driver. I have a rental Ford Fusion; I can well do without the modern electronic geegaws, and the driver's seat is made for some sort of hunchbacked creature with a short outboard leg. The Ford Taurus we rented in Canada was much more comfortable, although Miyoko couldn't see out the back window well and the heater/AC controls didn't seem to work well (they were electronic, of course). The big trunk was great for traveling, and the alarm for things and people behind the car was very nice. I still like our 2012 Toyota Camry. Barring crashes, we probably will never purchase another automobile. I am hoping the local stick-in-the-muds don't pickle Calfornia's High Speed Rail project; I really look forward to using it.
