I'll be visiting with many cousins today…some for the first time in our adults lives…!    ~ listener

  1. Howard is still first with me.

Just a quick drive-by. I stopped by my house to pick up my meds for tomorrow a.m. I'm staying down the street at my sister's until then.

I had my surgery on Thursday. It went very well and the surgeon was practically tap-dancing after because he was so pleased. The nodes were clear of cancer on preliminary exam. We'll see what the slides say at my next appointment. To my complete amazement I had ZERO post-op pain, and still don't. The drains are irritating the crap out of me, but they're not really painful. I'm going back down the street to my sister's house shortly, but wanted to let you guys know I'm doing just fine.

    1. That's great news! Or as great as one can imagine under the circumstances.

    2. {{{ ♥ Susan ♥ }}} May your healing be swift! I remember that my friend, Kim, said the same thing about the drains, so you must be right on track.
Somehow it escaped me, if I knew, that your surgery was so soon. When you have chance, check your FB messages. Thinking of you so much. Prayers ensuing! Hurrah for your sister! And thanks for checking in. XOXOXXX

  2. Thanks, Susan; we wouldn't be human if we weren't concerned. No post-op pain IS pretty amazing. Here's hoping the pathology slides come back by your next appointment; mine took longer than I might have expected/hoped, but obviously they want to do a really good job on them.

  3. A couple more thoughts about The Grand Budapest Hotel:

It could well be considered parody for the most part.

My reaction might well have been conditioned by (1) being dog tired (exhausted even) and (2) having just completed reading a biography set in Moravia from the 1890's into the early 1930's.

Still a movie I am glad I saw, still PG, but not everyone's piece of cake.

  4. Mr Gatsby hasn't come home. Sis seems to accept, intellectually at least, that he might not do so. Unsettled, sad day here.

    1. My sympathies. Not knowing can be hard to deal with.

When Penny and I returned from our Australia trip in 2010 we learned that Gray had left one day and not come back. But he was an old cat in poor health, which made it easier to accept. He might have just reached the natural end of his road while he was away from home.

  5. Tanner's in a lot of pain. It's new, and no one seems to be able to get a handle on what is causing it. This is from his mom, and heartbreaking: it is just incredibly discouraging when your child hurts and no one can tell you why and no one can help him. at times it gets so bad he wishes I had let him die when I had the chance.

    Prayers requested.

    1. Great news, bad news, and worse news all in one day. Yes, cluelessness about the source of the pain and what it means makes it even harder to deal with.

    1. Thanks, Puddle. Don't think I'll tell Sis that, but it does confirm my natural refusal to admit defeat. Will definitely keep hoping.

    2. Cats do not ask the permission of their staff members when they decide to absent themselves for a bit--although there are other possible explanations.

    3. I did tell Sis what Puddle said, with the predictable result. She was not comforted. Well, I'll continue to hope for a while.

Sis posted photos and requests to watch for Gatsby on various sites and FB pages, a good, pro-active thing to do, which would seem to belie her defeatist attitude. We'll see. Keep fingers crossed.
