It's crunch time!! Now that we're back from D-I-L's super great graduation event, we are DIYing at top speed! We have only until Friday morning to finish painting the hallways, because that's when the new carpeting goes in! There are lots of extra things to do as well, such as replacing hinges and doorknobs, rehanging pictures and paintings, painting the bannister and railing, cleaning like crazy, ripping out the carpet on the stairs so we can sand, repairing one squeaky step, painting the stair trim, and moving ALL the furniture out!!
Nail the squeaky step at an angle using a finish nail and sink the head with a nail punch. That way stepping on the step won't draw the nail out. I covered with carpet you won't have to use any putty.

puddle (or anyone)--please see previous thread. What is the name of the greens on the right side of the plate?

P.S.: Tired from working the weekend, but not as bad as is often the case; I could get a couple of quality naps. (One might qualify as a power nap.) Not drowsy while driving home. Two years and four months to go...and then EVERY WEEKEND OFF!!!! It's been a very long time...
I put together a CD of test tracks for when I audition new headphones in San Diego this coming Thursday. If I say so myself (which I do), it is rather an eclectic playlist. A wide range of voices, volumes, multiple instruments, one live performance; several that I know I have troubles hearing and (regarding voices) understanding with ordinary speakers or headphones. My little headphone amp is supposed to arrive Wednesday or Thursday.
Nope, neither of those; figured it was a weed, but if it is part of Nature’s bounty, that’s better. listener—might you be going by that restaurant again some day?
My memory of Sonoma county is that this time of year, wild mustard is everywhere. It's a relative of water cress, as is winter cress. And the picture looks close, but those little bits in the center escape me.
Dean in the White House would pollinate what matters!

"I covered with carpet..." = "If covered with carpet..."
DeleteBut you knew that.
Best if you can get the nail started into the edge of the step rather than the top, but that may not be possible.

Alan, I don't know what they are. Pretty, though.
ReplyDeletePenny didn't know either. Maybe watercress? Maybe violets? Or ---?

I vote watercress!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alan! Great timing with your step info!! Stay tuned.
No, not watercress. I remember harvesting some when I was a kid, and it looked like the Wikipedia pictures. Well, we will find out sooner or later.

ReplyDeleteMaybe the name/telephone of the restaurant?
Speaking of wild mustard, I noticed at least one planting of canola on the way home Sunday.
