Left the computer on overnight. Gates evidently downloaded a emergency update, which shut down earthlink. Did a system restore and I'm good to go until they try to download the update again. Or maybe I'll get a good update which will leave earthlink alone. . . .
Hopefully I won't have a fragment of a post showing up too. I'm on a new Mac and not really used to the differences yet. Yesterday the hard drive on my previous Mac died. My two sons (techies) went with me to buy a new Mac. Sad thing is, I lost every single download and document I had on the last one because I never learned how to back up files. That problem has been addressed with this new Mac. Guess I'll be spending a lot of time on search engines.
I like to call myself a left libertarian. My goal is always to maximize individual freedom of choice. Where I break with the Libertarian Party is that they seem incapable of recognizing that the government is not the only institution that can restrict freedom of choice. Sometimes the government has to intervene to create freedom of choice. But you have to always keep the goal in mind and not let the means overshadow the end.
Indeed, the Right needs to grasp that government is not wholly evil and the Left needs to grasp that Business is not wholly evil. There needs to be a balance, an interchange between government and business in order to produce the maximal outcome for everybody, especially the citizenry.
In this context, too literal. :-) As you read the article you discover that it's possible that both Sandwrs and Dean will run, to shake up the conversation.
No problem with Dean and Sanders being from the same state; just do like Bush Jr. and Cheney did. Maybe have Gov. Dean rent an apartment in New Hampster and claim it as his home for campaign purposes. --Alan
We saw Baryshnikov in a New Year's Eve performance at the Kennedy Center when Sis was four or maybe five. And of course I've seen various other performances of the Nutcracker through the years, but Baryshnikov was magic!
VT*Grand was amazed and focused! She understood far more of the story and the work that went into the performance that we expected she could. Her acting class (and dance class the year before) helped her comprehension greatly! :-)
Wow! I envy you the NYC Nutcracker with Baryshnikov!
Judy Collins' "Amazing Grace" went up fine on YouTube, with just a notice of matched third party content, which is nothing to worry about. So, I'm pleased about that.
I took a listen to one of her recordings of Amazing Grace; quite familiar, although I couldn't have told anyone the name of the performer. They had the echo effect turned way up, which I could have done without, but still very nice. --alan
iPhone is kind'a cool, but it is not comfortable to hold during long phone conversations. I like a nice, old fashioned phone with a handset you can wrap your hand around and hold comfortably. But I guess you can't have everything.
Just had a nice, cozy chat with Chris, which is why the subject of phone design is on my mind. My left hand - the phone-holding hand - is both sore and partially numb. There just is no comfortable way to hold the iPhone. But I suppose Christine is worth it. *grin*
Ah, Cat, use the speakerphone on your iPhone and you won't have to hold it at all. When you call someone and they answer, or you answer your phone, the screen changes to show options. The top right choice is speakerphone.
Howard's an angel, too, lol!

ReplyDeleteI lose more every time I lose another computer. Still, there seems more than enough stuff to take its place.
ReplyDeleteAlan, I too have come to the conclusion that I'm a Social Democrat, or perhaps a Christian Democrat.

Now, that's a team to scream for!
DeleteOf course, a Dean-Sanders ticket is constitutionally prohibited. Or am I being too literal?

Listener, how did VT Grand like the ballet?

DeleteI agree--I don't like the handset on our cordless phone either--the old standard Western Electric handset design is almost impossible to beat.
