Frost predicted Wednesday-Thursday night; if so, first of the year. Notes on previous thread including verse of Internationale that is usually omitted. Gotta run; up too late working, slept in half an hour. --Alan
Wow! "December" and "First Frost of the Year" taken together sound to me so funny! Around here the first frost happens around the start of October with the first killing frost well before Hallowe'en. James Taylor's tune 'Sweet Baby James' includes:
"Well the first of December was covered with snow and so was the turnpike from Stockbridge to Boston… the Berkshires seem dreamlike on account of that frosting…"
Called in about the line again last night, and was told there was still an open ticket on it. . . . That Mike had said he'd worked on it at one, but it still needed more work, and he'd be back first thing this morning. Evidently as good as his word, the line is MUCH better this a.m. Hope it holds for a while: I have bills to pay!
New printer arrived yesterday and got set up last night. Tonight I offered to print 400 copies of a 5-page letter.
And also last night the phone went out. Mostly. It pretends to be off the hook, except occasionally when it doesn't. Also a lot of static. Called the phone company this afternoon, and they'll be out tomorrow. Likely a problem with the outside line they think. We wonder whether it has anything to do with the stucco work (which looks like it'll be finished tomorrow.
And I finished a draft of something I've been working on. Really wanted to get it done before I left for Toronto Thursday, and it happened.
Howard! Huzzah!
