37.7F here presently. Upper 80's predicted for Wednesday. Low of 28F (first frost!) expected Saturday night. It's sure going to be a weird week for wardrobe!
Had a GREAT day at the Zoo (as you will see eventually)! We decided to go to the Franklin Park Zoo instead of the Stone Zoo because FP has more large beasties, such as giraffes, tigers, a lion and gorillas. The baby gorilla was a big hit with our three granddaughters (hereafter referred to as The Grandies). All four (including Grandson) are the Grands. I most enjoyed the giraffes and the tigers.
When asked what three girl cousins together are called, one of the dads replied "A Triage." LOL!
Update on Amber. She was able to go home on Saturday with a wheel chair and walker. She needs a lot of help but will still make more progress as time goes on. they are hoping eventually she will be out of the chair but it is so nice for her to be with her family. She was almost excited to be able to wake Alysa up and see her off to school this morning. Thank you all again for all your prayers and good wishes.
I'm excited over Russia's idea that Syria could avoid missile strikes by turning over their chemical weapons to international control. And I'm excited over President Obama welcoming this idea and saying that, if it really happened, he would pause plans for missile strikes.
I haven't yet found confirmation that Syria has agreed. One source, PJ Tatler (which does not appear very Obama friendly) says Russia has indicated that Syria is willing.
The article goes on to say that this could amount to Russia assuring the world that Syria has turned the weapons over to Russia. While that is fraught with concern, I say "All hail and welcome" to it. After all, if Syria were to then use chemical weapons again, Syria and Russia would both be proven as liars and the world would swiftly band together against them. If Russia gets the weapons out of Syria and this is confirmed at the independent international level, then we have a new world order! It's win-win.
DEAN DEAN DEAN!

Loved Saturday's pic! Sundays, er, not so much!

"Pardon my disjointed comments. Re nuclear weapons development, it has been obvious from the beginning
that any signatory of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty would become technically able to develop a
nuclear weapon. Consider Brazil's covert nuclear weapons program, for instance. And then there are the
non-signatories, of course--such as Israel, Pakistan, and India. As I recall it was Britain who facilitated
Israel's nuclear weapons program, we "merely" condone it, despite its evidently insane scale. In the case of
India, we are now helping them to develop their nuclear technology. Aside from the US, no one has ever
used nuclear weapons; they seem to function to prevent major wars. The obvious temptation to develop
breakout technology as part of a nuclear power program would be to deter attack by a powerful enemy. In
the case of Iran, that would include both the United States (which has repeatedly threatened Iran with
nuclear annihilation) and Israel, not to mention the potential threat from Pakistan.
Hillary Clinton's threats to unleash nuclear weapons on Iran (which has never attacked a foreign country) is
one of the reasons I would never vote for her. I consider it shameless pandering to those who demonize
Iran, and completely counterproductive. No one who said such things to gain votes should have been
nominated for Secretary of State. But my friends know I have an attitude. [grin]"
Cogent as always, Alan. Thanks for reminding me of HC's absurd threat that seemed to me at the time
designed to prove that she had a bigger, ahem, masculine organ than any of the boys. It had slipped my
mind - as so many things seem to be doing nowadays. That comment alone should disqualify her from being
nominated for President. Do you think we ought to remind Howard of the remark? *grin*

The bad thing about the internet is that the more I read it, the more repulsive I find the human race.
