Blue Beryl

13 comments:

  1. True blue beryl (aquamarine) is a gem, like true blue Howard Dean!

Largest beryl found in New England so far weighed eighteen tons (cf. Wikipedia).

    Fingers crossed for Morticia.

  2. Bill, keeping Morticia on my light list. Amazing what large holes companion animals leave in our lives when they exit. . . .

  4. Happy somewhat belated Birthday, Puddle! So glad you had a nice day.

Bill, keeping Morticia in my prayers♥

Beautiful blue beryl. Surprised to find that it comes in blue and red, since I thought it was only green.

    1. I didn't know that emeralds were beryl, nor aquamarine.

    2. Tolkien must not have known either, since he speaks of both beryl and emerald. Though come to think of it, he does refer to both as elf stones IIRC.

  5. You guys might be interested in my latest Fun Trivia quiz, "Give Me a Hand."

" A surprisingly large number of expressions in the English language include the word "hand", and they have a surprisingly wide range of meanings. How many of them do you know?"

It's rated Very Easy based on 438 plays. I'm surprised it has gotten so many plays already; it's only been up since the Fifteenth.

  6. Thanks for the good wishes re Morticia. We'll hear back about the biopsy next week. Meanwhile she seems to be holding her own.

  7. I thought maybe it was time to get a new jacket before going to Canada; my old jacket is rather old. But it must be that the climate hereabouts is simply too warm; hardly any choice, and nothing I like in the stores hereabouts. I looked online at the Hudson's Bay Co. stores, and they have a big selection. If I find myself passing by an HBC store I might have a look.

Working at the hospital this weekend; will post farming news tomorrow.

    1. It always seems weird to me -- although probably it shouldn't -- that you now have a department store chain owned by The Company of Gentlemen Adventurers Trading into Hudson's Bay.
