  2. Yes. Wind, rain, thunder. Talk of possible flooding. Although, as I've mentioned before, we are on what passes for high ground in the Chicago area. Only possible concern is storm sewers backing up into our basement, and that would take a heck of a lot more rain than it look like we're going to get.

    The Democrats who voted against the amendment:

    Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.)
    Sen. Mark Begich (D-Alaska)
    Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.)
    Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.)

    Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) voted against it for procedural reasons as Senate rules will allow him to bring up the measure again.

    Republicans who voted for the amendment:

  5. I was grateful for our President's response today to the gun legislation vote. I thought his mood and sentiment very appropos. I am tired of hearing about people's 2nd Amendment rights based on a necessary means of protection in Revolutionary War times. The intent of the 2nd Amendment was to protect the citizenry, not endanger it further. How about we let anyone who wants to own a period musket have one without a background check, but require it for all other weapons?
