Any news? All I saw was huge turnout, some voting problems, and 60% said in exit polls that recall is only for really bad crimes. What time can we expect results? Best link...?
I slept well last night, although my biorhythms were still all shot to Hell today (typical after pulling a weekend shift). I plan to repeat the good sleep tonight. Right knee doing well because of all the sitting around. Trolley works perfectly getting to and from the Navy base. The clouds largely disappeared today, and we had plenty of beautiful blue sky. Pleasantly cool. I'm getting caught up on reviewing an article for publication; hadn't had a chance to work on it last week.
While sitting on the patio of the rec center having a cup of coffee today, I was moved to educate myself about current Navy warship classifications. It seems I have no reason to be embarrassed about my rather befuddled understanding of the current distinctions among "cruisers," "destroyers," and "frigates." Depending on armament and bureaucratic motives, any given ship might have or have had any two (or even three) of those designations. I also looked up what had been the anticipated next generation of "destroyer:" the Zumwalt class. Only a few are likely to be built because of cost overruns, but those farking things will be the size of a WWII heavy cruiser, half again the size of the Graf Spee, and nearly the size of HMS Dreadnought. Among other armaments they will have two six-inch guns each capable of firing ten rounds a minute, with a range of a hundred nautical miles and great accuracy. And they're calling them DESTROYERS? It makes the word pretty much meaningless.
Dean is First and I am way behind.
ReplyDeleteHoping to catch up yet. Won't be immediately, but I'm okay, just busy.
Where's our Cat?
I'm trying to catch up. Not as far behind as I used to be, but every time I think I'm almost out the door something else arrives.
DeleteAnd yes, where is Cat? Is she hiding like our feline cats do when they want a good nap?
Praying for Wisconsin. Going to be very close. Much closer than it should be. And Walker's going in with a tiny lead.

ReplyDeleteBummer.
ReplyDeleteCan't seem to find any percentages for the Wisconsin vote.
Anybody got a link?
I did read this:
Romney issued a statement saying Walker's victory "will echo beyond the borders of Wisconsin."
I'm sure it will...from *both* camps!
Wouldn't be a great world if nobody had or needed money?
Saw or heard something the other day (NPR?) that said our nation never was darn polarised until GWB was in office. Rang true.
AH! Thanks for the link, puddle!!
ReplyDeleteWisconsin seriously needs more Independents!
