Our political system is pretty well broken. People now seem to be so easily fooled, or just plain dumb, or unaware that Wisconsin didn't surprise me at all. People (as a generic group) seem to be far more interested in what Snooki or Kim Kardashian are up too than keeping an eye on the people who supposedly (ha!) represent them.
Some yahoo here in Ohio is bragging about letting them drill for fracking purposes on his land. But they're drilling into the *aquifer* to get water for fracking! Water will most definitely be a critical problem here in the States as it already is in so many other countries. But I knew it would be a problem when Bush bought a huge aquifer(sp?) in South America during his term.
I'm just hanging on for the ride and trying to survive all the foolishness. A daily dose of lolcats certainly helps.
OK, so that stuff works. Would use Gravatar ID, but that doesn't seem to be an option.
I checked out of the hotel, checked my bag, and went walking towards downtown to get a submarine sandwich (half for lunch, half for dinner). Along he way I discovered the place I think I am going to stay next time--the old Army-Navy YMCA (1924), refurbished as a ho(s)tel. [http://www.500westhotel.com] The Navy will pay a good bit more for a billet, but it appears more to my liking than the modern tourist hotels. Perhaps a bit less convenient in some ways, but more so in others. A cheap charlie [ahem, certainly not me...] could catch a big hotel shuttle from the airport to the general vicinity and then take shanks mare rather than a taxi from the airport; but the taxi would only cost about six bucks. Still, that saves the cost of a meal.
Howard's still ma guy!
ReplyDeleteThe pic, I picked up from Kos on a consolation thread Wednesday morning after Wisconsin. It is still making me laugh! (Cross posted at 3.0)
