CRUISING BURLINGTON

This was a birthday gift for our Youngest a few years ago. I painted it and framed it in under two weeks. He told me this week that it is his absolutely favourite view from Burlington. Score!

  1. First of all, just this to say: Howard Dean!

  3. Beau managed somehow to loose himself and come down on his own this morning. Minimal damage done: some emptying of the wastebasket, but no more. Whew! Out now, and being quiet.

Did *not* get our frost. Not even close. Guess the cold blew thorough earlier. Canceled the freeze warning for today about half hour ago. Tomorrow's still in effect.

  4. We are having a much appreciated second day of steady rain. It helps so much...!

  5. Glad to hear that Beau didn't do any real damage on his own. Silly boy.

We are in the planning phase for getting two kittens this Summer. Did I tell you this?
    We already know their names.

  7. You know it's April when you don't know whether to say 60ยบ is "Warm and windy" or "Cool and windy" lol!

Haven't checked the clothes on the line yet. I'm positive they're all bone dry and need to be brought in and disposed of. The ongoing problem in this place is place to put things: any thing. Clean laundry, dirty laundry, water buckets, clothes to wear, books to read: anything. Been trying to solve this over the years in a number of ways: reducing what I own, expanding space, expanding storage. So far, the twain haven't met. Keep hoping though that I'll find the tipping point.

  8. About a third in, and folded. Must mention how much I lurv the smell of line dried laundry! The dude that duplicates that smell, exactly, will be rich. . . . .

  9. Well, the *pillow* wasn't quite dry, so it'll get another day. Everything but it, and the quilt are in and folded and partly "put away" (waiting for the quilt to be in and folded so I only have to make one trip up the stairs).

Meanwhile the wind is making the tin roof sound (and feel) like a drum.

Got back from Columbus yesterday evening. Pretty good trip on the whole. Loved the hotel room. It was a corner room (which I asked for). The hotel isn't square, so "corner room" implies an odd shape which apparently many people don't care for. But there were windows on windows on windows. The way the room wrapped around I actually had views in three directions.

The convention itself was quite a bit smaller than usual, presumably due to the shift from Memorial Day to Easter. That probably accounted for the relatively little business I got for the coming-convention bids I was supporting. But I thought the panels I was on went well. Especially the last one of "Building a Better Human."

  13. Sounds like a really lovely room, Bill, you smart and/or lucky dog!

    I'd think Easter might be a problem. . . .

But hooray on on building a better human!

As for Easter being a problem ---

Britain's national convention is always Easter weekend. But that's Britain. There are also Easter-weekend conventions in Minneapolis, Phoenix, and Portland. But I get the impression only the one in Portland is particularly big.

  15. This just in, from Mah*Sweetie's sister-in-law and brother Larry:

As we have feared the cancer has returned and spread and progressed to Stage IV. We’ll let you know as we know more.
Thank you all for your continuous love, prayers and support.
    Love to you all

  16. Oh, Sweetie, how awful! Tears here. ♥

    Thanks, puddle. Tears help. ♥

Just sent time on the phone with the kids. This is the first of all their uncles (or aunts) to be given such news. It's resting heavily on them, naturally. The whole family was already on tenterhooks about Ally's upcoming scan on Friday the 13th. We more or less expect it will be a clear scan. But this news shakes away any complacency. What's more, Ally and her Mommy bake cookies for Great Uncle Larry on a fairly regular basis and deliver them as his Cookie Fairies. So this is reverberating all over the place.

We'll go down and visit Larry some Sunday soon, when he's up to it. He'll be in hospital all this week, then home for 4-6 weeks. So we'll probably visit in late May.

  21. The room with three views sounds great!!

Building a Better Human? :-) Gee, and just today I was looking at some old Doonesbury comic strips and came across the segment where Duke opens Baby Doc College in Haiti, and this very sketchy surgeon who was kicked out of Sri Lanka has a project underway there to (get this!) transplant a Liberal's heart into a Conservative! Mind you, this was during the Reagan/Bush years. Some things never change.
