Waving 'bye for the day. Grands should be here soon and then we're off to the science museum to see robots and live critters and how long it takes to wear Grandma Susan completely out.
The not so good news is that Laurie's not going to make it any time soon. She had a fever of 103+ this morning, and gunk and coughing. So send the gurl some light! I told her Wednesday not to *even* try if she was feeling bad. She's been running a *very* narrow edge for quite a while. . . . She needs to just relax back into some kind of health, *then* we can just go PLAY together.
I'm feeling VERY good today, in fact. And Mr. Beau is continuing to be the Prince of Puppies. Even Stevie seems a bit more comfortable. I did a pretty good preparedness for post surgery -- lots of food I can eat with minimal prep of any kind (just heating/mixing). Scotty got ALL the trash burned, and the water tank completely full, and vacuumed and cleaned up, and changed the bed. Turns out that sitting at the computer is a VERY good position for both pain management (what there is of that), and eating. Much easier than the sleeping position as a matter of fact, grin.
Have all the fun you can, Susan! See you on the other side!!
Leaving shortly to pick up my Grand, too, and hoping the roads aren't too slick for safety. It's 17 degrees and has been snowing all day. At least we don't have the winds we had on Wednesday. But we're expecting some freezing rain overnight...which should make getting to work interesting in the morning.
Hardest thing I do is up to bed/down from bed, and I take that exceedingly slowly. And hold on on both sides. Mr. Puppy is very patient with me. Headed up for a nap, just about now.
Played through my nap. Just have to get to bed early, lol!
Alan, finally found the perfect reference!
Shoulder pain
Carbon dioxide is converted to carbonic acid when it is in solution with body fluids. This is irritant to the peritoneum. Diaphragmatic peritoneal irritation produces pain which is referred to the shoulder by the phrenic nerve. This pain may be confused with cardiac pain by the unwary physician and treated inappropriately.
The roads were actually pretty good, so that's a relief! But it sure is a lot more work to be Grammie alone than when Grandad is here to team-tag the time! Whoo--!!
puddle ~~ Thought I'd mentioned how glad I was that you were feeling good and that Beau was being a GOOD DOG. But apparently the intention never got translated into action.
I had suspected the pain was being referred to the shoulder from somewhere else, but wasn't sure of the whole story. Should have remembered how CO2 becomes carbonic acid and drops the pH, just as it does in soda pop. (That's why pop requires so much sweetener -- to overcome the sourness of the carbonationi.)
Too sleepy to say much--was up fairly early downloading instructor resources for the developmental psych class. Last time I checked, I still didn't have instructor access to the resources for the intro text.
Howard would be furst today, right ahead of liverwurst, lol!

ReplyDeleteYups! That's what the Grands are *for*! But hoping (and suspecting) you are going to have a fine time anyways, lol!

Yeah, I like liverworts too, but I like deviled ham better.
ReplyDeletePuddle, are you allowed to eat such things yet? They're kind'a spicy.
So sorry to hear Brady isn't feeling well. Hope the liverworts helped.
Don't get over confident, Puddle, and wear yourself out. Take it easy, OK?
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that Thankful's sick. Sending her some healing vibes!
Taking it *very* easy, lol! Not to worry.

Glad to hear it! Have a nice nap.

Wow! That all sounds mighty uncomfortable. And then to have it misdiagnosed as cardiac trouble might end up being downright dangerous.
ReplyDeleteI survived!! How about you, Susan?

ReplyDeleteYup, I made it. Just up from a 3 hour nap though. Not going to do much for sleeping at night, but I couldn't keep my eyes open!

ReplyDeleteOhhh, I hear you! I fell asleep sitting up and didn't waken for 45 minutes! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI hope access comes swiftly, then!! Yikes! I guess just wing it the first day, as needed. Something tells me you wing well. ;-)
