Fortunately, I had saved the long comment I posted last night to my clipboard, so I still had it even after Echo ate it...
Thanks, listener. And Cat, I guess it was a *little* scary. But I just catch myself doing certain things on "autopilot", and then I have to question why I am still doing it that way. I planned knew that Son needed to pick up his textbook soon, and when the one I need finally came in, it made sense to combine that into one trip--especially with Demetrius still waiting for a part to do a repair on the second car.
I pictured taking him with me on my errand and then going with him to get his book. That's how we usually do things. But I realized that didn't make sense. Instead, I told him I would meet him in the bookstore after I had picked up my own book. That way, he knew that if he ran into any trouble, he wouldn't have to wait long before I was there to help him sort it out.
Of course he asked, "What do I do?", because this is the sort of thing someone else has always taken care of--we were usually relieved if he actually finished his homework without too much of a fight. I just pointed out that he was holding the sheet of paper telling him what he needed to bring to the bookstore--his photo I.D. and a copy of his schedule--and that he had both of those things. So, look for a sign, and if you don't see one, ask somebody who works there.
Of course, I took care of my own errand as quickly as I could. By the time I arrived at the bookstore, he had his textbook in hand and was heading for the checkout (he doesn't have to pay, but returns the book once the course is over). I'm proud of both of us. :)
You might not recognise it, though, because the folks who now run Ben & Jerry's seem to have forgotten about filling the ice cream with big chunks of chocolate and lots of cherries. It still tastes the same but the texture is lost. I want my chunks and cherries back!
Howard would be first.
ReplyDeleteWonder if Echo is fixed yet. And if it's just me.
ReplyDeleteLooks like, just maybe. . . .
ReplyDeleteCat tried to post this about ten or twelve times last night, on both threads. . . .

I posted two messages last night. Both initially showed up, but then disappeared. We'll see if this stays up.
ReplyDeleteI did see, thoughout the evening, Cat's post with a link to the transcript of the speech. Not certain that's what you are referring to below.
BTW ~~
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, listener!!
Happy birthday, listener.
ReplyDeleteI had at least two comments get eaten last night. One was pretty darn long.
ReplyDeleteShe had the video, but not the transcript.
ReplyDeleteYou're right. I misread or misremembered the post.
ReplyDeleteSee I was missing a comma, lol! SB: Cat, tried to post
ReplyDeleteLife is strange. I'm now friends with my ex -- the father of my children -- on facebook. . . .
ReplyDeletelistener, Jo poked you a happy birthday on fb, lol!

Indeed, Renee!
ReplyDelete♥ Thanks for all the sweet birthday wishes!! ♥
ReplyDeleteBTW, the ice cream flavour was Cherry Garcia.
