puddle Had a post here, but took da puppy for a walk (swim), and when I got back: blue screen of death (3rd time). The post was about the puppy's name.
I've called him in my mind, and to his face, since I've learned I was getting him: Sam (the pound's choice); Harry, Bobbye's choice; Jonah, Jesse, Bradly, Brad, Brady, Bailey (don't know how I got stuck on the B's, lol!). He hasn't answered to any of them. Though occasionally he'd open an eye, and raise an eyebrow. Sooooooooo. . . .
A couple of hours ago, I looked around, and didn't see him, and so said, rather softly, "Come here, Buffy." And he got up (was on the carpet on the far side of the couch) and came, wagging his tail. I think he's very pleased with how bright his mama is: discovering his name in just a bit more than twenty-four hours. . . . He continues to answer to it. Today, 21:54:16
puddle The temporary tag I made for him yesterday, with SAM on it, came off in the night. So today, made a new one with BAILEY on it. With got wet and smudged with the two river swims. Next one's gonna have BUFFY on it, and come from Petco and be stainless steel. . . . Today, 21:57:10
listener That's amazing! I know a dog who looks very much like him...and ACTS very much like him...except is smaller, being simply a very light coloured golden retriever....whose name is BUFFY!!! Both Buffys are intelligent, gentle and well behaved. Little Buffy up here is the dog who folks said couldn't be trained, yet the first time I said to her "sit" she sat and every time I said to her "shake" she'd give me her paw...! Good name that!! =wOOf!= Today, 22:05:27
Phunny, while you were writing your response, I was writing a comment about why I think he's a Pyr/Golden Retriever mix. Here it is for the non facebookies:
Lidia Sophia you can't keep a good retriever out of the water... mine lived for it even in the freezing Pacific Northwest ocean temperatures... he just didn't care....LOL
Julie Li Lidia, theoretically he's a Great Pyrenees -- and he looks classic, and has all the guardian traits, but he's a pound puppy (rescued by a woman I love, but who couldn't keep him because of conflict with already homed "puppies" so who he is ...or even where he came from is lost.
Thing is, I've only ever observed two dogs react to water that way: one was a friend's 12 week old black lab puppy. The other, my neighbor/friend's baby boy, Sam, who is a Golden Retriever.
Bet good money (if I had any) that Buffy's a Golden Pyrenees. Since I was owned by and loved a Pyr, and have wanted a Golden Retriever for a good part of my life, couldn't be more perfect, lol!
I heard on VPR that Leahy visited Dealer.com today where Youngest*Son works. So I commented on it and he told me that Channel 5 had been there. So I turned on the local 6pm TV News and at 6:04pm they did a segment about it and THERE in the front was Youngest*Son! I was so bummed that I couldn't tape it (we have cheap TV these days). So when it came time for the 11pm News I was standing at the TV with my camera on and AHA! I got a screen shot with Youngest*Son right in front! :-D Very pleased mama, here. LOL!
It was especially important to me because Mah*Sweetie was off at second*job and not able to watch it. We'll see if they put the segment online or not. Son may see if he can buy a copy of the clip.
Don't really know why I'm so sleepy, but I'll be turning in soon. Works out, though: I'll be getting up around 8 (early for me) so I can make a 10 a.m. kickoff organizer for the Democratic Party of Oak Park/Organizing for America.
Howard Dean and fans puddle and Buffy are First!!

That sounds just right. He does have a Golden Retriever aspect going for him. He's golden, anyway. ♥
