Not yet ready for frost...

We have a frost and freeze advisory! Sure wish it would hold off until November,
but really can't complain since we have sometimes had snow by now.

  3. And I was the one who didn't knotice that his name had disappeared from the reply box. Had to foce an "abnormal sutdown" of the computer earlier today and seems to have broken my links to a number of sites.

And I *hate* it when that happens!

  5. Yes, I figured it out by your last post, where you mentioned Penny. ♥

  6. I wouldn't use the adjective "strange" for it, I'd use "meaningful" and "wistful" and "tender" and "longing."

  7. Very pretty day here. 75ยบ and sunny and windy. Got the grass planted. Still need to water it.

  8. Good on you, puddle! :-)

  9. Beautiful day here too. Shirt-sleeve weather for knocking on doors and urging Democrats to vote early. (But this isn't Chicago, so we didn't mention voting often. ) :)

  10. Grass seed all watered. Which is the hard part, lol! Didn't have to haul this part too far: used my wash tub's rainwater. Next time, it's the river. . . Or pray for rain, which I am.

Burn ban, BTW, was lifted just in time for fall burn season restrictions (which ARE a lot less problematical).

  12. I slept late and then had connectivity problems all afternoon. Hope that's straightened out now. Very pleasant weather this afternoon.

Have to see about calling Robert Newman. I wrote his number down wrong and needed to e-mail him to get it. Isn't technology a blast?

  15. Praise is a powerful thing. Y'all have encouraged me to put a melody to the poem. I originally imagined it with a melody, but was hesitant to try it. Now I've got the lyric in Cakewalk and the melody is coming along nicely. The ending's off - I get confused sometimes and need to transpose. But, in general, it's going well.

It's a pity I can't carry a tune in a basket. I mean, I'm no Carol King, but I do enjoy writing songs, and it would be kind'a nice to be able to sing them. Oh well... Guess I shouldn't complain. It's something to be able to write songs, even mediocre ones, right?

  16. As Howard Dean would say, "No, thank YOU!"

  21. Well, we're getting there, but the arrival will have to wait till tomorrow. Still in all, I'm very pleased with how well and quickly this one has been going. It's nice to have some success.

  22. Night, friends. Stay warm!

  23. Doesn't seem to be a new thread this Sunday moring, but Howard Dean is still first.

Good luck with the song, Cat. I can't carry a tune either, so don't expect me to actually sing it. Listen, yes, if I get a chance.

  25. Sorry about that! I had it all ready to go, but had the time of day set wrong.
