Howard is first on this beautiful Saturday in Evanston. 40 degrees yesterday and 70+ today. Packing for the big move but will definitely make some time for a springtime walk with Sydney.

"Big move?" Did I miss something?

  3. donna ~~ are you still gonna be donna in evanston? or donna in somewhere else?

Finally, did go to town this morning. Glorious trip. Everything leafing or in bloom ('cept my fields, lol!). Odd though ~~ the serviceberry and the redbud are blooming at the same time. Usually the serviceberry is a good month ahead of the redbud. . . .

  4. Hi, The first yellow iris opened today and there was some sort of life/death struggle in the pond. A snake was the victim and the minnows are now cleaning up.
Like the Dew published another one of my pieces, including a short clip of Al Gore back in 1992.

Yep, my place is finally under contract and I have bought another place...in Evanston. The closings are set for the end of this month.

Packing up nearly 24 years of living in a place after raising a family there is hard. I am moving to a tiny condo, so I have had to be ruthless. I am seriously looking forward to the move.

I will remain donna in evanston. Even if I get run outa town. ;)

I am so happy for you that you sold your house!!! Hurrah!

I've experienced leaving the house where we brought our children up. We had to move (with a job) to the other side of Vermont and put our house here on the market. It didn't sell, which is a really good thing because one week after leasing out our house and moving into a leased house the company announced it would be closing...! So after the year, we moved back here. I was surprised how hard it was to go. Had we been going to a new and better-for-us situation, though, I think it would have been easier. BTW, we live in half a duplex...where we brought up all 5 kiddos. Now it's just the right size for us. Ha!

  8. We lived in Rhode Island for awhile when I was a child, and lived at a pond. One day we heard that a water mocassin was in the water, so no one was allowed in to swim...until our cat went in, killed it and dragged it to shore. That's right. We had a cat that would go out swimming with us! She also ate spaghetti.

  9. I was wondering whether you'd get to town before you ran out of supplies. LOL! So glad you had a nice day for it!

That is so strange about both blooming together. Some things here are 2 to 3 weeks ahead of schedule. And we're expecting some 20's this week, at night. I sure hope it doesn't hurt the fruit trees. Does anyone know how low they can stand and do okay?

I connect with Kimmy Cash and she seems to be happily being a mom, going to school, and practicing the fine art of taxidermy, just for fun. I think before too long they'll have quite a collection and will need to start a museum! LOL!

Has anyone heard from nordy? I lost her email address in my computer crash.

How about sylvie or Holly J? Others?

  11. Corinne and volney came back briefly to the BBB a year or so ago. Corinne decided I think, that the tone/intellectual content had dropped so low. . . . volney, I think is still just trying to survive. I'm assuming that Agatha/Sylvie/Christy are all doing well, 'cause I 'spect if anything happened to any one of them, one of them would let me know. Nordy knocked my ears off at Christmas time, so I assume she lurks at least sometimes.

Funny about the taxidermy! We have a world class taxidermist right here in Sugar Grove. Guy's amazing ~~ everything he does looks *really* alive, and just about to move. And very very beautiful. Even those stupid deer heads look great when he does 'em. I don't think they teach that in school, or even can: just a pure talent.

  12. I have lots of bad things to say about Volney, but not in an open forum.

  13. Well, I can say one thing in general. Never make the mistake of thinking that just because someone is/was a Deaniac they're a good person, trustworthy and honest. It just ain't true.
