Shiloh would have turned 48 years old today.
When Wil and I went to Dead Creek to release the Monarch Butterfly, we also scattered a little more of Shiloh's ashes...at this lovely spot we used to visit with him. Just as we did, a shadow blocked the sun for a second and we looked up
to see a huge Turkey Vulture circle over us and fly off over the nearby trees.
We couldn't help smiling.
29 Days until the Midterms!
I've heard it said that nobody is really gone as long as someone remembers them. I feel sure with the contributions Shiloh made to conservation, not to mention any other fact, he will long be remembered. Susan
ReplyDeleteYeah...well...all the accolades he's still receiving (the ripples are still going outward) help to soften the long slog of not having him physically with us anymore. He is gone. But I honestly believe the spirit outlives the body (whether or not anyone remembers). I just wish I knew "how it works" once someone has crossed out of this plane of existence. I wish there were some Portkey that would allow us to at least visit once a year. I do hold still and hold him in my heart. Maybe he can detect that in some way. I'll. have to wait to find out. Love knows no boundaries whatsoever.

ReplyDeleteWoman accusing Sherrod Brown of forcing transgender surgeries isn’t from Ohio, didn’t have procedure as minor I'm shocked. Shocked, I say.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how much the opposition is paying her.
DeleteHowever much it is will never buy back her honor or trustworthiness. And she'll live with that for the rest of her life. I hope she thinks she got a good deal.
DeleteThanks for the kind words. It was harder this year than I expected.
ReplyDeleteWe watched the PBS documentary "FLYWAYS" tonight, in Shiloh's honour.
My sympathies, listener. The suddenness and unexpectedness of his death must make it more difficult.
ReplyDeleteThanks, W.A.. Yes, a sudden, unexpected death, especially of someone in their prime, is traumatic. We are all doing better than I would have predicted…and that’s a grace.
