    1. I actually had my note to you written hours ago and was waiting for blogger to let me click "Reply" then got distracted by life.

  2. I keep hearing the Israelis saying they aren't leaving south Lebanon, and I wonder what they mean. They keep talking about a "buffer zone." As one Israeli extremist said on NPR, what's a buffer zone without settlers. It's what they are doing on the West Bank and want to do in Gaza. The south Lebanonese may face the same thing. -- nordy

    1. It's frightening. No one sane would consider, much less do, what the Israeli extremists toss off as commonplace. But then, they are indoctrinated from an early age, and insulated from the outside world. So I suppose they actually think of genocide and territorial expansion as perfectly normal.

Did you hear, now they're destroying Bedouin encampments and slaughtering their animals in order to force them into cities? A people with a millennia-old culture and nomadic tradition, in cities! It's as much an obscenity as the genocide of the Palestinians.

    2. I haven't heard about the Bedouins but it's hardly a surprise. -- nordy
