  1. BREAKING: ICE Chief QUITS after deadly crackdowns and record deaths of detainees in custody. But quitting early won't keep him safe from accountability -- he will still be pursued by future administrations for his role in ICE's atrocities.

Todd Lyons is stepping down as acting director of ICE after months of escalating controversy, deadly enforcement operations, and the highest number of deaths in agency custody in its history. His final day is set for May 31, 2026.

Lyons led ICE through a massive expansion under Trump, fueled by new congressional funding that increased hiring, detention, and arrests nationwide. That push exploded into high-profile raids in cities like Chicago and Minneapolis, operations that ended only after outrage over the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by federal officers.

Under oath, Lyons admitted that at least 44 people have died in ICE custody since he took over in March 2025, the highest total the agency has ever recorded.

When pressed in Congress about those deaths, he refused accountability.
Lyons: I welcome the opportunity to speak to Renee Good's family in private. But I’m not going to comment on any active investigation.

But it's not her family we wanted him talking to. It was a grand jury.

This is the same agency that signed off on sweeping powers allowing officers to enter homes without a judge’s warrant.

Polling showed more and more Americans -- the clear majority -- held an unfavorable view of ICE during his tenure.

This resignation is not closure. It is the result of policies that pushed enforcement past legal and moral limits, while leadership refused responsibility.

    3. Interestingly, Stephen Miller is indirectly connected to Lyons' resignation. Reports have been circulating for a few weeks of Miller repeatedly screaming at Lyons to the point that Lyons broke out in a sweat and his face turned red. Sounds like an anxiety attack to me. Moreover, Lyons has been hospitalized at least twice for stress and anxiety.

I'm not saying Lyons has been a good acting director of ICE. I am saying, though, that on a purely human level, Miller's insane hatefulness and monomania damaged Lyons' health. It's also interesting that there are multiple sources sited in these reports. Seems nobody likes Miller, so nobody's interested in shielding him. Lyons' hands are not clean, but it's Miller that's the primary villain of the piece. I hope someday they lock him up and throw away the key!

Epic screw up: Republicans are likely to have NO candidate on the ballot in a key swing district, handing it to Democrat Pat Ryan in a district Mike Johnson can't afford to lose. This level of stupidity is unprecedented even for MAGA...

New York Republicans just created a political disaster that could hand Democrats an uncontested win. In the 18th Congressional District, chaos erupted after GOP nominee Sharanjit “Sunny” Thind suddenly dropped out and tried to swap in a replacement.

That replacement, Jackie Mary Auringer, rushed to file with the FEC on April 10. She’s 29, from Kingston, with a marketing degree and ties to conservative groups in Florida. On paper, it looks like a simple candidate switch.

    It’s not.

The entire plan depends on Thind’s original nominating petitions. And now those petitions are under direct legal attack. Ulster County clerk Taylor Bruck filed a challenge alleging Thind LIED about his address and failed to properly number petition signatures, which blocks officials from verifying them.

If that challenge succeeds -- and it likely will, as it's a clear violation -- the GOP doesn’t just lose Thind. They lose the ENTIRE placement on the ballot.

That means no Republican candidate at all in a district decided by just 3 points at the presidential level.
