    1. I think he's just glad it's not more snow. Their feathers slough off the rain nicely, most of the time. "Like water off a duck's back." But they can look rather annoyed when they're wet, like ... bird on a bad hair day ... ! Ha!

  3. Shots allegedly fired at White House Correspondents' Dinner. DT rushed out of the room. (No one injured at all.)
I can't help wondering WHY DT was willing to go to it at all. Another drama moment? Perfect timing to get a lot of free press? Am I becoming cynical?

    1. Wolf Blitzer says they were real gunshots. He was a few feet away from the gunman (who was quickly tackled by police). One report is that someone was shouting "USA! USA! USA!"

    2. I had heard he was planning to tell the press how much they suck and then leave. In light of that I was hoping there would be a lot of people sitting this one out.

For Patel and Hegseth, do we prefer the Liquor Cabinet or the Booze Brothers?

    3. Blitzer says the weapon was a large one, and that surprised him because the gunman was inside the secure area, and would have had to go through security. So that seems suspect, to me.

      They are sending everyone home.

    4. Secret Service now saying they have the suspect in custody. It was near the screening area, but maybe not inside that area. The White House press corps have gone to their vans...and may be leaving.

    5. They're sending everyone home (protocol), and will reschedule in the coming month. Everyone is apparently safe.

    7. Renee...I'd rather use Liquor Cabinet because I don't want to dishonour the Blues Brothers. 😉

    8. The Secret Service officer shot was wearing a bullet proof vest, so that's good.

    9. The 31 yo guy who is the suspect is a Cal Tech grad. and is believed to have been a guest at the hotel...!

    10. I vote for Liquor Cabinet.

Gee, the shooting was a real thing? I didn't pay any attention, assuming it was some sort of spoof in bad taste. Thank God no one was seriously injured! Presumably, even with a bulletproof vest, getting shot is no laughing matter.

The way I heard it: Trump agreed to attend the Correspondents' Dinner about a month ago. Then, it was announced that The Wall Street Journal would be receiving the Katherine Graham Award for their reporting on the Epstein Birthday card. At that point, Trump planned to go, deliver stinging remarks, and leave before the presentation.

An amusing wrinkle is that Melania suddenly decided, after her Epstein speeches, that she would accompany him.

I know Aaron Parnas was going to boycott the dinner, but he's the only one I heard of doing so.

    2. And the story is even more amazing! The driver had an asthma attack and it happened on a four lane highway! The 12 year olds on the bus saved the day! One steered while another did the brakes. Another called 911 while two others figured out how to give the bus driver her inhaler…one holding up her head while the other administered it! They managed to stop the bus in the median and put it in park!
