Doodling, drowsiness and a conspicuous misspelling highlight Trump’s last Cabinet meeting of 2025
(AP): With Tuesday’s White House Cabinet meeting chugging past the two-hour mark, President Donald Trump ‘s eyes fluttered and closed. His budget director busied himself doodling a fluffy cloud. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was lucky enough to speak early, but the title on his nameplate was misspelled.
As each official took turns speaking, a TV camera trained on Trump showed him struggling to stay alert. The president sat back in his chair with his eyes occasionally drooping and sometimes shutting completely. -- nordy

he sharks can smell blood in the water. After a decade in eerie command of the Republican party, with primary voters in his cult-like thrall and down-ballot elected officials feeling they have no choice – and often no inclination – to diverge from him, Donald Trump suddenly seems not quite in control of his own political machine.
Fractures have emerged in the Maga coalition; Trump’s approval is sinking; the Democrats, long anemic and risk-averse in the opposition, showed signs of life in elections last month; and the cumulative effect of a series of long-running scandals, most particularly the Epstein affair, seem to have alienated core components of the Trump faithful. Trump has faced some rebukes from a once largely compliant federal judiciary: his personal attorney, Alina Habba, was recently declared ineligible to serve in the US attorney role Trump had appointed her to, and his signature tariffs seem likely to be struck down by a conservative supreme court majority.

Dunno how I got stuff about John Roberts intermingled with the above post. The point, however is the way the press is tiptoeing around the truth of Trump's condition. The issue probably stems from frivolous lawsuits against the press by DT. Even the NYT fell short, publishing a half-ass story that said DT was "aging." There's a lot more going on than that. -- nordy
Well, today I met with my ENT doc. There has been some improvement thanks to the medicated nasal rinses, but not enough to improve sleep. So I have made the decision to have the turbinate reduction surgery. If I see a dramatic improvement in the coming month, I can still cancel the surgery. It's scheduled for January 27th, and there is a very yucky week of uncomfortable recovery, until the doc removes the splints. But then life gets good (she said, hopefully).

ReplyDeleteVery best of luck!
DeleteThanks, W.A.!!
Delete2025 has been the worst year of my life. Probably a lucky thing the surgery will happen in 2026...!
Hope you get sleepy soon, listener. -- nordy

DeleteA gentle night to you all.

People never mention that one reason Trump falls asleep in meetings might be boredom. He doesn't care about antbody's opinion but his own.
