  1. And just like that, the sailing season is over. ⛵️ Sigh.
Well, actually, it was just like this:
We got the deck scrubbed before Loch Nest got hauled. She got pumped out and after she got into her cradle (which is a whole story in itself!), we cleaned everything out of the boat, put in the anti-freeze, and got the frame up for the cover. I scrubbed the waterline of the usual brown grunge. Wil and Root*Center*Son removed mainsail and we took off the outboard motor.
The tarps are currently inside the boat. Wil and I will go over on Sunday to add the rope webbing to the frame, take off the lifelines and put the tarps on. Then Loch Nest will be all tucked in for Winter.

    1. Meanwhile, we are clearing out and repainting the laundry area since we have a new washer coming Tuesday. (The old one is very old and making a terrible scraping sound when the drum moves.) This one will be a better match for our dryer. I'm super tired. But at least I can sleep until I wake up natural tomorrow. I've averaged 5.85 hrs sleep per night so far this week and I had been averaging 6.6 or more for months!

Next weekend is a trip to Wil’s brother’s celebration of life service, then an overnight with my brother and his wife as we and they celebrate 50 years married. A few days later Spinnaker kitty has surgery and wears a cone for 2 weeks, plus the Election. Then Daughter may need to be away on business which means we may be needed with the grands. Also in there are two grands’ plays in as many states. I think things slow down just in time for Thanksgiving…which may be just us and Root*Center*Son.

    2. I think the original novella was excellent. The other two novellas bound into the book, perhaps not quite so much.

  3. Perceptibly cooler today. Late lunch with friends tomorrow. My digestive tract seems to have been restored to its normal condition.

  5. Younger*Grandson (age 8) is an MVP on his regional soccer team. He is dedicated and scores goals frequently. Well, he and a teammate devised a play that totally faked out the other team. Grandson stood near the ball, while his teammate runs up to it as if he's about to kick it, but instead jumps over it and Grandson kicks in straight into the net. They did this because the other team had 5 payers standing in a line in front of the net. They were all ready for the expected kick, and thrown off guard just long enough for Grandson to score. Clever!

  6. Beautiful, summerlike weather today and more expected tomorrow -- probably the last summerlike weather this year before fall really sets in. I could not stay inside and went out to get some whole-bean coffee to feed my habit. More compliments for the cat lady shirt.
As much as I love October, I cannot lose sight of the fact that bleak November is only a couple of weeks away, and with it the start of the Great Dark. -- nordy

    1. Fall weather here. 60s and windy. Light showers were predicted but never arrived.
One Halloween decoration on my way to the restaurant: A supeersize plastic ghost with flickering lights inside.

    2. We had some wind overnight, and the annual Fall Foliage Art Show in touristy Stowe, Vermont had to be cancelled when the wind took down some of the tents, artwork and all.

Stowe is on the other side of Mount Mansfield from us.

On this side, we lost power for about 3 hours this morning, but no damage.

Just so sad for all the artists and organizers who worked so hard and had everything ready for this weekend, hoping to sell some of their amazing art. I hope not much of it was damaged. I heard one woman was injured when a tent when down and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

      Very weird weather event.

    3. Oh, nordy, one thing I love about fallow November is that it has the best sunsets of the year!
