    1. Particularly of Republican senators, but there is surely a lot of blame to go around.

    1. I gather that it is more like a bunch of dust and maybe some pebbles, but thanks for the heads-up! I overslept this morning .

    2. Absolutely amazing that they could have the landing location so perfectly predicted. A picture popped into my mind of a guy waiting on the ground with a catcher's mitt!

    3. Might they land the next such capsule on the South Lawn of the White House?

WGA strike: Deal could be reached as early as today between Hollywood studios and Writers Guild of America

    Whoo hoo!
Now get it ratified and do the same for actors and we’ll get to watch Colbert again!

  4. Nevada GOP approves party-run caucus that will exclude candidates who run in primary [Click] What a bunch of loonies. Note that The caucus — set to be held just two days after the primary, on Feb. 8 — will require candidates to pay a $55,000 filing fee.

    1. This appears to be only about presidential candidates -- about delegates to the Republican national conventioni. I am constantly confused by states that say, "We don't care about taxpayers and taxpayer money. We're going to hold two primaries for no good reason."

  6. Today, Wil and I got our new Covid boosters at a local CVS. (We usually go to one closer to home, but this is where the dose was available.) However, when the pharmacy associate who gave me my shot went to do the injection, she pinched up my arm (not sure why as my deltoid is in great shape) and the jab hit a blood vessel. Immediately it began to bleed: 3/8" wide trickle of blood 3" or 4" down my arm before she could even get the bandaid on. She had a pharmacist (Sarah) check it and I was advised to expect bruising, and as it was already warm to her touch to ice it and watch it closely. If it becomes red, hot and hard I'm to draw a circle around it with pen and if the redness spreads up or down my arm I'm to call your office or go to the ER.
As it's Sunday, I checked in with Nurse Teri, who teaches nursing and has run Covid vaccine clinics. She, of course, said to check in with my PCP and that, since I bled so quickly, I may need another dose of the vaccine. 😫
I just happen to have a photo of the moment of injection itself (I always take one, to celebrate!), and a photo of the bruise 3 hours later. I have been keeping it iced and so far no redness, though there is a bump at the injection site and some bruising. I sent photos to my PCP along with the details. Waiting to hear whether and when I will need another dose. =SIGH=

    1. Oops! Make that "my PCP's office" not "your office." LOL
I lifted this from my note to my PCP, you see.

  7. In all my years of getting shots of various varieties, nothing like that has ever happened to me. Sounds like the shooter was incompetent. I hope you continue doing well, Listener. Sounds like a very alarming experience. Glad you were able to get right on things and your doctor's office is aware of what's going on.

    1. Thanks, Cat.
It's more annoying than anything. I think it's not going to require a trip to the ER, but I am rather miffed that I may not be protected...and wanna bet they make me wait 2 months to get another dose?!!

    2. I went to Kaiser to get a flu shot, but their vaccination tent was locked. So went to CVS for new covid shot, but they insisted on an appointment in advance. Oh, well. Hmmmmm..... should we make some sort of sacrifice to Marduk to make sure things go right next time?

    3. Alan, I'd go with Aesculapius.

    4. Wil and I are pretty sure I got NO benefit from the shot because his arm hurts a little (which is typical), but mine does NOT! (Even with the bruise, and the big poke, I have no pain when I move my arm. (No redness either, thankfully.). Bit SHEESH!

    5. My guess is that yoy will need another shot, but your PCP's opinion rules. And if your PCP says I need another shot, I don't think they will make you wait.

    6. I'll update when I hear. It's a truly curious situation to be in.
