    1. I'm pretty sure I have seen it (positive I have a copy), but don't remember a thing about it.

    2. I have lately been thinking that I would like to see Akira Kurosawa's "Throne of Blood' (inspired by Macbeth) again. I have a copy.

  2. Checking on the storm a few hours back, it looked like none of us were significantly affected by it. Good.

  3. I woke up this morning reflecting on TFG's seemingly progressive senility and the unlikelihood that he will accept an insanity plea justified though it may be. That got me to thinking about the Unabomber, whose Wikipedia entry I largely read during breakfast. Interesting fellow, clearly a madman although he didn't start out that way.

    1. Reminds me of the reported message from a Russian office in occupied Ukraine who said that the granny you see delivering pies during the day could be a colonel in a mortar regiment during the night.

    1. Given that the legislative branch has failed us, I hope the judicial branch can take care of business.

  6. (Susan) If anyone is still up, I am deeply concerned about a letter I got from my Board of Elections on Friday. The first sentence, "According to our review of publicly available records, someone at this address may not be registered to vote." My reasons for concern are:
    1. I have NEVER in all my years seen any Board of Elections hunting for voters.
    2. Secretary of State Frank LaRose (also running for Senate against Sherrod Brown) is the chief elections officer of Ohio and dictates to all 88 Boards of Election.
    3. Frank LaRose is NOT honest. He lied and lied about the reason for Issue 1 on the August ballot and he campaigned heavily for people to vote "yes", even though he is *supposed* to remain neutral.
    4. After Issue 1 was soundly defeated in August he vomited forth an absolute torrent of lies.
5.Republicans want to retain minority rule of Ohio, they refuse to correct their wrongly gerrymandered maps.
    6. Is this "voter hunt" a ploy by LaRose to give him an excuse to purge voters from the rolls?

    1. It's well before my bedtime here in Oak Park.

Ohio isn't Illinois, but here, if the Cook County Board of Elections wanted to go on a voter hunt the Secretary of State would have nothing to say about it. Trying to get as many people as possible registered strikes me as a good idea. My concern would be whether this suggests you are not on their list of registered voters.

    2. (Susan) Of course I'm on their list, Bill. My son and I are both registered and we've voted in every single election. I think the problem is that we are Democrats and LaRose is a rabid Republican. In Ohio the Secretary of State is the chief elections officer and coordinates all 88 county Boards of Election. I'll be calling the Board tomorrow because, clearly, the "publicly available records" are incorrect.

    3. Sounds fishy as all get-out. What is the Board of Elections doing consulting public records rather than their own? I suspect fraud.
