Thanks, Cat!!! So good to know you’ve got my back and the blog would go on!

I deleted my belated post, and let yours stand. Yours is so interesting, too.

  3. I think the photo at the beginning of this thread must mark the entrance to a wormhole that leads to a variable time and place--sort of whipping around.

  4. Trump Attacks Georgia Prosecutor [Click] I am generally opposed to flogging, but there are cases where it seems appropriate.

    1. They really need to cart him away...set him in jail until his trials come up, with no phone at all. He can say whatever he wants when he is in the courtroom. Until then, shut him up.

    2. (Susan) AGREED! The fool is bat-shit crazy, spiraling out of control (if he ever *was* in control) and he is a clear and present danger. He should be jailed pending trial. If he keeps it up - and he will - he may very well rant his way in to a cell.

  5. I'm looking forward to turning 68 next month because, frankly, 67 has sucked. I have only myself to blame for what has ailed me this year ~ wrist strain from putting in the new fence; sprained ankle from tripping; and tonight stooping down to pick up my boat shoes and whamming the top of my head so hard on the doorknob as I stood up that I drew blood ~ so, hopefully I'll be older and wiser at 68. Ha!

I had to remind myself of the old mantra we used when the kids were little: "Head wounds bleed profusely." What a mess, and it took 2.5 hours for the bleeding to stop. Mostly it was just slow seepage once the initial mess settled down. Just a 3/4" wound and not gaping, but there are so many tiny capillaries near the surface on the head that it can take while. No loss of consciousness, no dizziness or confusion. Not even a headache except it stings a little exactly where it bled. Could be worse.

But all of these silly physical challenges could have been prevented. Silly me. I'll have to slow down and engage brain more this year.

    1. Ha! Engaging the brain is for sissies! There are all sorts of alternative solutions--among them going barefoot on board your boat (like a Royal Navy sailor in the days of sail) or removing the door knob that attacked you! [Full disclosure: I still have a scar where I did a good job on my scalp when I was a teenager-- covered by hair, as it happens. Yep, bled profusely.]

    2. Thanks, Alan, for the good humour and the commiseration. I got stitches atop my head as a preschooler when a neighbour child's wagon handle landed hard upon it. Companies didn't think of such possibilities when they made toys back then. The handle was hard metal and thin, so it did a nice cutting job. At least that time I didn't do it to myself! Ha!

  7. Hey, Catreona... Did you notice that Blogger works differently now when posting? I can't see my photos as I'm working (just the ascii formatting) unless I go to Preview. Was it like that when you got in today, or might you have changed something?

  8. It was like that, and has been like that the few times I've come in to create posts. But, hmmm..., seems to me there's a setting somewhere to toggle between the HTML code and the photo you're working with. If I don't remember to poke around under the hood tomorrow, remind me.

BTW apologies for being so churlish on your thread. Please post that photo another day. I liked it.

  9. (Susan) I'm proud to report that Ohio voters beat the stuffing out of the Republican's lying power grab. From my email: "Ohioans made their voices loud and clear: They will not tolerate any attacks on direct democracy.

They tried to lower voter turnout by moving this vote to August. They tried to put roadblocks in the way of ballot measures that Ohioans care about. They tried to silence voters’ voices at the ballot box and failed. Together, we have shut down the far-right’s attempts to chip away at our democracy. "

    1. Gee-- I will have to look that up; I didn't think anything much along those lines was going to be happening for a while.

    2. 57:43; that's pretty darn good. Now to check on the turnout statistics! Certainly a good augury.

    3. Columbus Dispatch [Click] “Critics of Issue 1 were concerned that turnout would be low, and lawmakers limited August special elections for that very reason. But nearly 642,000 people cast early in-person or absentee ballots, outpacing the early vote turnout for the May 2022 primary. Election Day turnout also exceeded expectations.

More than 3 million Ohioans voted on Issue 1, according to unofficial numbers.

Nearly 53,000 absentee and provisional ballots were still outstanding as of Tuesday. Mail-in ballots that were postmarked on or before Monday must arrive by Aug. 12 to be counted.”
