We are headed out to the Bay this evening as Root*Center*Son has a buddy visiting with his daughters ages 10 and 12. And I slept 8.5 hrs last night, so I'm up for it. Yay! Sunset cruise ahead!
Our friend on Maui checked in this morning. They were planning to drive a little and see the edge of where the fires are. He's looking for a way/place to begin feeding people who have lost everything. Probably connect with a shelter, I imagine. Hoping to hear from World Central Kitchen, though I don't know how long it takes them to get permissions and clearance to go in, especially as it's still an active fire situation. Just utter devastation, death toll up to 55 today. Drought, fire and hurricane force wind make a deadly combination.
Judge Backs Special Counsel on Protective Order From politicalwire.com, original source not given.
Federal judge Tanya Chutkan rejected Donald Trump’s request to designate witness transcripts and videos as non-sensitive, and thereby exclude them from the protective order. Said Chutkan: “Disclosure of any of those materials creates too great a risk that witnesses may be intimidated.” She notes that Trump’s defense is “conflating what your client needs to do to defend himself and what your client wants to do politically. Your client’s defense is supposed to happen in this courtroom, not on the internet.” She added: “He is a criminal defendant, he is going to have restrictions like every single other defendant.”

The lifelong effects of 'the favourite child' [Click] Good food for thought here. After high school (my brother—six years older—joined the Army, I went to college) and continuing until her death decades later, I felt that my brother was my mother’s favorite and became progressively more so. Having had no experience of school beyond high school, and me being undemonstrative, she probably had no idea how hard college (and far more so graduate school) was for me, and thought of it as a way to avoid growing up and getting a real job. At the same time I did everything I could to make up for my the failings of my brother—to be the good son. I didn’t start getting over that until my latter twenties. —Alan
