Last night, for the second night in a row Dad slept well, only getting up once, briefly. And today, for the second morning in a row he was up early, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed
He attributes the improvement to switching to sleeping on his back from his side. Whatever the cause, this is a wonderful development.
Ohhhh, that is wonderful news, indeed. Sleep makes all the difference!
I would love to be able to say the same. It's still taking 10 hours to get 6 hours of sleep, and that's only if I sit straight up in the recliner. Thinking of contacting an ENT doc.
Well, I've been to the doctor 3 times in the past 5 weeks, but the last time she just said "We may never know" what's causing it. So, I'm thinking of getting a second opinion from a specialist.
Dad had a very nice birthday. He loved the Hank Williams box set (ten discs and a fat book stuffed with photos and info).
Operation Birthday Card was a resounding success, with forty-eight cards and messages having arrived by Saturday morning, two more in Saturday's mail and a few stragglers still on the way.
Christine and John came by mid morning baring a feast, as usual, and a lovely time was had by all.
The big birthday dinner went off without a hitch. The food was delicious, the company was pleasant, Sis managed well - no anxiety attacks. In fact, she seemed calm and like she was having a good time.
At first I felt slightly resentful that she'd invited "her" friends but, as it turned out, that was very good. Both Marilee and Jimmy are fun and, as Sis pointed out even with the special food, if it had been just the three of us, the evening would have been a bit dismal. The company made it festive. Most importantly, Dad enjoyed himself and seemed by the end, though tired, to be in a good mood.
Thanks so much to all of you for your interest and good wishes!
Glad your dad had a great birthday. He is just over three years older than me. My birthday dinner, I'm afraid, will be alone, although at a nice restaurant. I find I'm spending 10 hours a night in bed, plus another hour or hour-and-a-half in the afternoon. Thing is I get up to visit the bathroom four or five times a night and don't always sleep soundly afterward. Not actually lying awake, but fitfully dozing, half awake and half asleep. Likely to fall fully asleep at some point, maybe without realizing it (just see that it's later than it seems), but it's not the same as sleeping through the night.
It's Fani Willis. That said, it seems almost characteristic of the Cons that they cannot follow proper order (cart before horse syndrome?) Some also seem incapable of distinguishing between investigation and indictment. Trump is now proclaiming he should have been indicted two years ago; at the same time he's apoplectic about the Russia investigation which did not charge him but sent cohorts to prison. Not sure why the federal system indicts instead of bringing charges.
I stepped outside to put out some possum food and make an addition to the compost heap, and in the direct sunlight it sure felt HOT! According to the weather report it's only about 99 or 100F, 15% humidity, but since our morning constitutional I have been lazing about inside our air-conditioned abode. (Currently A/C off in this end of the house, 83F, fairly nice with a fan on.) Crunchy Cheetos are good. ----Alan

Don't let that slide too long, Listener. Sleep deprivation is considered torture for a reason.
DeleteYeah, I believe it!

90!
DeleteRight! I'm SURE you told us this at the outset, and I just doubted my recollection. I half expected you to say 80!

DeleteIndictment = bringing charges.
