Eldest grand earned her driver's license on Friday! 🤩 🚗 I may be feeling older as a result, but I'm feeling far more proud than old. She's careful and responsible; I'd hand over our Maverick truck's keys to her.
It's a terrible thing to say, but I can't help but notice how quickly the Black killer cops were charged with murder, unlike white killer cops. Perhaps it is because of all the "officer involved shootings" and similar cases which I have been involved in investigating over the years. ---Alan
Cops are taught neither the law, nor who they work for. They are beholden to supervisors to write reports for them and the supervisor's advancement depends on how many subordinates he controls. No way do they get that "the rule of law binds government and all its officials." What the cops have been taught is that they are entitled to coerce compliance and any resistance triggers the use of force. This is actually not new. I was dealing with it back in 1981.
Remember that white female cop who fatally shot a black male motorist a few months back? She got, I forget, some piddly sentence. Several years ago, in the same state, a black male cop fatally shot a white female motorist, and he got something like twelve or fifteen years. Interestingly, he showed great remorse for killing a young girl, while she showed no remorse whatsoever for killing a young boy. Nonetheless, he got a harsher sentence. I leave you to draw your own conclusions. They're not pretty.
The female cop did not intend to shoot the motorrist. She intended to Taser him. That she pulled the trigger of her gun rather than the Taser was a matter of negligence, not intent. And yes, negligent homicide is still a felony.
Russia is still using the tactics that they used (sometimes to good effect but at great cost) against Austria-Hungary in WWI, and still suffering from the same organizational defects. Going a little farther back in time, the analogies with the Crimean War are also notable, particularly the large number of foreign adversaries (who were more technologically advanced). ---Alan

File under "Fog of War" for now: PUTIN'S PERSONAL HELICOPTER CRASHED NEAR MOSCOW, IS THE DICTATOR DEAD? [Click] Ukrainian President Zelensky said recently that he believes that Putin is not alive anymore and that the persons we are seeing in Moscow are his body doubles.

Yeah, well, if it were a Hollywood movie, maybe. For myself, I believe snakes like Putin are mighty hard to kill.
