    From Vermont Public:

Vermont Democrats will be looking to get a supermajority in the Vermont House of Representatives tomorrow, and they think they can pick up several seats in the Northeast Kingdom. Democrats are eying wins in places like St. Johnsbury, Derby and Lyndonville. Paul Dame, executive director of the Vermont GOP, says his party failed to field candidates in some of those districts. “You know, we are going to see fewer Republican seats in the Northeast Kingdom largely because our recruiting measures fell short," he said. Party leaders will be paying especially close attention to a four-town district in Orleans County. Due to legislative reapportionment, an incumbent Republican and an incumbent Democrat are vying for one seat in that district.

    1. You know, the parties are extralegal, if not illegal entities which have no official role in elections. Ditto for Congressional organization and procedure. Congress makes its own rules, only the titular leaders (VP in Senate; anyone the House selects) are specified in the Constitution. The Founders made no provision for factions and warned against them. Yet, for a very long time our government has been hijacked by partisans with the wholehearted assistance of the press.
So, who's to impose restraints? It's up to we, the people.

  3. Late NY Times assessment of Manafort and Russia connection to Ukraine suspect they are all double agents in it for money and mischief. Manafort sat for four interviews, so the story is bound to be self-serving.

    3. From Wikipedia (won’t post for some reason) “On May 5, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the launch of the United24 global initiative, the first component of which is an online platform to raise funds to support the state. The funds raised will be distributed in three areas: defense and demining, humanitarian and medical assistance, and reconstruction of Ukraine.” U24 web site [Click]

    4. One can choose to donate to defence and demining, medical aid, or reconstruction. Current total collected is $217,877,272. Current balance $26,526,964. Payment by credit card. PayPal, bank transfer, or cryptocurrency accepted. Ukrainian government agencies will make decisions on specific allocations according to needs.

    1. I am avoiding all media prognostications as they are just stirring nerves. I sincerely hope that the people of good will BLOW THE REPUBLICANS RIGHT THE F OUT OF THE WATER and win elections that were poo-poohed.

  7. Stephen Curtis put up a great meme on Facebook. I don't know how to share the picture but the caption said "You're not just voting. You're picking a torch". The photo was of the Proud Boy's tiki torches and Lady Liberty's torch.

  8. Sorry for my absense--DSL on the blink since Saturday. I had less down time in 19 years of dialup than I've had in three months of DSL. WISH I'D NEVER DONE IT AT ALL.
