    1. I knew this, one stanza of it, as a campfire song when I was a camp councilor. It has taken me 63 years to find the rest. So glad I did &hearts

    2. Makes you wonder what’s going on at the end of town! Maybe it’s like Edinburgh in the Middle Ages…town was 1 square mile, with a wall around it, and beyond that marauding hoardes!

  3. We are in Maine, having a grand time with 4 grands. The eldest has her permit and got to drive Grandad’s new truck yesterday. Today is the long awaited retirement party. We will have the whole family together for a photo, excepting one DIL who will be tending babies in the NICU today…though she made an AMAZING cake for the party. Lemon with blueberry cream filling.

Maybe the w went down to the end of the town by itself?

      LOL!

Does Grandad's new truck have an automatic transmission?

It does! It makes me not want to drive the truck much, so that I don't mess up when I go back to driving my standard shift Mini Cooper!

    3. We made it there and back again!

It was a VERY nice Retirement party. We were expecting all the kids and grands and two of our three DILs. (The third had to tend babies in the NICU, but made an amazing cake for the party as her contribution. Lemon cake with blueberry cream!)

However, Youngest, one DIL and three grands couldn't come after all because their youngest (age 3) had a croupy cough and may have an ear infection. Then DIL had an allergic reaction to Lobster Compost! She can eat lobster, but discovered she is allergic to the shell!

  6. Putin’s War Headlines from The Guardian:

Two Russian generals killed near Kherson, says Ukraine

“Russian forces frustrated in Donbas,” says UK

In Mariupol, Putin now rules a wasteland pitted with mass graves; the inevitable end to the brutal siege shows Russia’s logistical strengths – but also why invasion is ultimately so futile

    1. Make that two and a half Russian generals killed--a third is in critical condition. Presumably they continue to broadcast their locations by using unsecured cell phones.

  7. Kremlin accidentally publishes the number of military casualties in Ukraine [Click] Report 116 dead and more than 100 missing in sinking of heavy cruiser Moskva. 13,414 soldiers dead, about 7,000 missing. That is only two types of casualties—wounded and sick would add to the total—the proportion depending on quality of medical care. So total casualties would add up to at least 25% of the attacking force—enough to disable the remaining forces.

  8. Well, for Ukraine it seems to be a matter of not counting chickens. Meanwhile, the Russian announcement of the ambition to conquer all of south Ukraine and open a route to both Crimea and the break-away portion of Moldova lays out an agenda that was too ambitious to succeed. So, it was not the execution that failed; the ambition was just too great. Poor Putin, the little man with great aspirations!

    1. I am still very impressed by the report that after the previous time the Russian oil pipelines were shut down [in 1989, when the USSR collapsed] it took about THIRTY years to completely restore them, WITH the help of Haliburton and other western oilfield service companies (which have now left Russia). I'm not clear on whether changes in pressures and temperatures of natural gas pipelines have the same deleterious effects on welds as in oil pipelines, but think I heard it is so. Putin seems to be Russia's worst enemy since WWII.
