This announced about an hour ago: The German railway, Deutsche Bahn, has said that refugees with a Ukraine passport or identity card will be able to travel free on long-distance trains from Poland to Germany.

Putin has in days undone the principal and joint accomplishment of NATO and the Warsaw Pact--to see to it that Germany would never again rise as a military power.
The statement of Mr. Lindner, both Leader of the Liberal (or Free) Democratic Party and Treasury Minister, that the toughest sanctions imaginable were now necessary sounds to me like excluding Russia from the SWIFT interbank transfer system altogether. That probably means temporarily reactivating some nuclear power plants, while doing everything possible to eliminate dependence on Russian natural gas.
We drove to and from NH today to visit Youngest, his dear spouse, and three of our youngest grands. It was great fun and we loved the time together. The drive home was a bit sketchy, but we managed to miss all the snow squalls! Yay!
